Research objectives

The philosophy of this research is to investigate and study the possibility of improving all the three dimensions and to design an efficient solution for process safety engineering. [Pg.10]

It is required to find a suitable way to achieve the target enterprise safety solution as integrated with other components within plant enterprise environment. Also it is required to define standards information technology infrastructure to be adopted within the target plant enterprise engineering environment. In addition, the proposed solution should reflect top management goals and to adhere to the [Pg.10]

The proposed automated environment should include both qualitative and quantitative risk assessment methods, where decision engine can be used to decide the most suitable safety / risk assessment method at the different stages of plant lifecycle. In order to follow-up the risk assessment results a monitoring module should be used as a part of the proposed safety solution. [Pg.11]

As with any management discipline Safety Management can be categorized into two areas  [Pg.12]

The Safety Management Strategy defines how safety and health is resourced, organized, measured, and monitored. The production of the Safety Policy and the Safety Plan is a key point to ensure that the strategies and procedures are implemented at all levels. High-level strategy must incorporate the implementation and regular review. [Pg.12]

The systems of such type have been developed of all last 10 years. We shall bring some characteristics of one of the last development within the framework of European BRITE project, carried out in LETT This 3D cone-beam tomograph is referred to as EVA Bench or Equipment for Voludensimetry Analysis. It is oriented on NDT of industrial products from ceramics and other composites. One of the main task of this tomograph is achievement of high resolution at study of whole internal volume of researched object. For test sample of the size 10mm spatial resolution in 50mm was obtained [14]. [Pg.217]

What research objectives should dendrimer chemistry therefore target as the second stage of this science The answer is the progress of macromolecular chemistry while maintaining the dendrimer concept, even if we do not use molecules with the dendritic shape. [Pg.67]

Attempts to realize enzymatic reactions have been reported over the past four decades in the context of host-guest chemistry, presently a well-established research field. In the field of CPOs, much attention has been paid to identical research objectives. The host-guest chemistry based on CPOs holds a special position, because specific selectivity and reactivity will be achieved using the coordination-bond-forming reactions between the substrate and the incorporated metals in the porphyrins, as well as the redox reaction associated with the porphyrin s rr-electron system. [Pg.81]

The maturity of dendrimer chemistry has led to confusion among researchers, because there are no specific research objectives in this field. It may be a good idea to design and synthesize a novel macromolecule, a non-dendrite-shaped molecule, keeping the concept of the dendrimer in mind. The nano-sized closed space inside the molecule is one of the key concepts for novel macromolecular chemistry. [Pg.84]

The prioritization of research objectives and classes is is not necessarily what a curiosity-driven researcher likes to hear. However, these are Government-wide priorities. They apply to all participants in the AMPP, but not all agencies have exactly comparable missions. AMPP research carried out with NSF support will probably have a more fundamental flavor, on average, than R D sponsored by a mission agency. Objectives for 1993 within the NSF component are... [Pg.37]

Field Applicability Testing (FAT) Workshop. In March 1982, the EPA Office of Research and Development convened a workshop with the specific objectives to (1) assess the state of knowledge on determining the field applicability of laboratory bioassay tests, toxicity studies, microcosm studies, and mathematical chemical exposure models (i.e., the extent to which these methods have been tested/compared with field data), and (2) recommend research objectives and priorities to advance the current level of field testing. Workshop attendees included representatives from EPA research laboratories, universities, and private industry. [Pg.153]

The current research objective is to evaluate the surface activity of the subfractions obtained from the solvent fractionated crude oil and shale oil samples as they are passed through the separation process developed for this work. The columns used are anion exchange resin,... [Pg.378]

By late 1971, so much information had been uncovered but remained to be processed that it was apparent that the compilation would never be finished on the spare-time basis then being used. Fortunately I then gained the support of my employers, the British Petroleum Company, Ltd., and have now been able to complete this compilation as a supporting research objective since January 1972. [Pg.2111]

A discussion of test methodology is beyond the scope of the present paper. However, the fact that established tests do not accurately reflect the behavior of materials in fires has been widely recognized (9), and the search for more meaningful techniques for the evaluation of engineering materials has continued to be a valid research objective. The development of the cone calorimeter, a bench-scale tool for the evaluation of fire properties of materials (10a) at NBS, is of particular significance in this context. [Pg.244]

Perhaps the most compelling research objective in this area will involve the development of a chiral metathesis catalyst that effects C-C bond formation efficiently and with excellent levels of enantioselectivity [41 ]. In such a case, all the reactions discussed herein, in addition to those expertly developed in other laboratories [40], will become subject to asymmetric catalysis. Such a development should prove to have an enormous impact on the field of inorganic, organome-tallic and synthetic organic chemistry. [Pg.139]

Finally in Chapter 8, all conclusions made during the research will be discussed in respect to the overall scope and research questions posed in this thesis. From this discussion general conclusions about the research performed in this thesis will be made. The research objective and research questions will be listed to check if the objective is achieved and if the questions can be answered completely and correctly. Finally, any additional questions arising from this research will suggest the scope of future research. [Pg.42]

The second move of the poster Introduction previews the specific accomplishments of the work and is often given its own subheading (e.g.. Research Objectives or Goals). The focus should be on research goals that have been achieved and are presented in the poster. Move 2 has a narrower focus than move 1 hence, the poster Introduction follows the broad-to-narrow hourglass structure. As a test to see if your Introduction addresses moves 1 and 2 sufficiently, ask yourself if a viewer, after reading only your Introduction, could answer the following questions (1) What research area is addressed (2) Why is this area important (3) What specific accomplishments will the authors present in their poster ... [Pg.327]

We begin with excerpt 13A, part of an Experimental Approach section that you can read and analyze on your own. Excerpt 13A is a continuation of excerpt 12A, where Aga makes the case that we need to better understand the stereochemistry of metolachlor, a widely used herbicide and potential carcinogen, as it degrades in soil. In excerpt 13A, she describes two specific research objectives needed to accomplish this task. [Pg.434]

A convenient way to summarize the more tangible accomplishments of your work is to present them in a timeline. Recall the specific-achievable-measurable (SAM) test for research objectives introduced in chapter 12 a timeline helps reviewers (and you) evaluate whether your project goals are achievable within the funding period. The start of this move is usually demarked with a level 1 heading. Common headings for move 1 are shown in table 14.1. [Pg.483]
