Remedial action

This type of contract requires the operator to pay a fixed amount to the contractor upon completion of the well, while the contractor furnishes all the material and labour and handles the drilling operations independently. The difficulty with this approach Is to ensure that a quality well Is delivered to the company since the drilling contractor will want to drill as quickly and cheaply as possible. The contractor therefore should guarantee an agreed measurable quality standard for each well. The guarantee should specify remedial actions which will be implemented should a substandard well be delivered. [Pg.62]

Care must be taken in handling radon, as with other radioactive materials. The main hazard is from inhalation of the element and its solid daughters which are collected on dust in the air. Good ventilation should be provided where radium, thorium, or actinium is stored to prevent build-up of the element. Radon build-up is a health consideration in uranium mines. Recently radon build-up in homes has been a concern. Many deaths from lung cancer are caused by radon exposure. In the U.S. it is recommended that remedial action be taken if the air in homes exceeds 4 pCi/1. [Pg.153]

At the end of each month, the field cost engineer collects all current information on a detailed cost report form. As these are actual costs, they can be used to estimate future job costs to completion. Daily reports of unit-cost progress for concrete, excavation, masonry, steel, piping, and electrical work, etc., are then used to predict possible overruns or underruns for the various items. Analysis and comparison with the original estimate point out trouble spots for early attention. If an item is running into difficulty, it is red-flagged to the resident and projec t engineers for remedial action. [Pg.875]

Endurance Burn Under certain cou(itious, a successfully arrested flame may stabilize on the unprotected side of an arrester element. Should this condition not be corrected, the flame will eventually penetrate the arrester as the channels become hot. An endurance burn time can be determined by testing, which specifies that the arrester has withstood a stabilized flame without penetration for a given period. The test should address either the actual or worst-case geometry, since heat transfer to the element will depend on whether the flame stabilizes on the top, bottom, or horizontal face. In general, the endurance burn time identified by test should not be regarded as an accurate measure of the time available to take remedial action, since test conditions will not necessarily approximate the worst possible practical case. Temperature sensors may be incorporated at the arrester to indicate a stabilized flame condition and either alarm or initiate appropriate action, such as valve closure. [Pg.2301]

The vertices are connected with hues indicating information flow. Measurements from the plant flow to plant data, where raw measurements are converted to typical engineering units. The plant data information flows via reconciliation, rec tification, and interpretation to the plant model. The results of the model (i.e., troubleshooting, model building, or parameter estimation) are then used to improve plant operation through remedial action, control, and design. [Pg.2547]

Conduct field studies based on the results of population studies and biomarker responses. The extent to which endocrine disruption occurs in situ is important in considering the scale of remedial action required. [Pg.60]

Timely remedial action to achieve the set goals of quality and productivity. [Pg.248]

All trips with causes and starting parameters are programmed for an accurate diagnosis of the causes of a trip. It helps to identify remedial action necessary in the operating conditions of the load for a healthy functioning of the machine. [Pg.294]

Preliminary All <0.1 X OEL 0.1-1.5 xOEL Some >1.5 xOEL None if exposures are as low as reasonably practical. Investigate and carry out a more detailed survey. Investigate, take remedial action and repeat survey. [Pg.387]

Routine All Differ significantly from previous survey Check values, mean, range, etc. Is there compliance with OEL and if so what is confidence Investigate, consider remedial action detailed survey or change protocols. [Pg.387]

Can the plant pressure or the inventory of process materials, or both, be reduced effectively and safely in a major emergency Are the operating parameter limits which require remedial action, known and measured, e.g. temperature, pressure, flow, concentration ... [Pg.399]

The apparent cause(s) of the complaint(s) is (are) identified Remedial action and follow-up evaluation will confirm whether the hypothesis is correct. [Pg.214]

Tier 2 Future liability costs, such as remedial actions, personal injury under the OSH A regulations, property damage, etc. [Pg.506]

Cleanup actions taken to deal with a release or threat of release of a hazardous substance that could affect humans and/or the environment. The term "cleanup" is sometimes used interchangeably with the terms remedial action, removal action, response action, or corrective action. [Pg.524]

Metaltec is the 16-acre site of a small metal casing fabrication plant and includes an unlined lagoon used for dumping waste solvents from the plant s operations. The waste solvents contaminated both the soil and groundwater on site and were the focus of the remediation efforts. Four parcels of land on the site were originally identified for remedial action. Soil remediation was completed on three of the four parcels in prior... [Pg.180]

Deviations to be recorded, remedial action taken, and the product subject to re-verification prior to continuing with the tests... [Pg.267]

Preventive action cannot be taken on a failure that has occurred (see ISO 8402) except on other future designs. What is intended is that remedial action is taken to correct the design fault and corrective action taken to prevent the same failure arising again either in the same design or in other designs. [Pg.268]

Don t work to instructions unless provided in the quality system procedures, product specification, production plan or in approved change notices or remedial action instructions or by the nonconformity review board. [Pg.374]

It should also not be assumed that these requirements are only intended for implementation by a department with the title Inspection or Test. Whenever a product is supplied, produced, or repaired, rebuilt, modified, or otherwise changed, it should be subject to verification that it conforms with the prescribed requirements and any deficiencies corrected before being released for use. That is what control means. Control is not just the inspection part of the process and hence quality control , which for years was the name given to inspection departments, was misunderstood. Inspection and test don t control quality. Inspection and test merely measure the quality achieved and pass the results to the producer for remedial action. [Pg.375]

All recorded nonconformities have been resolved and remedial action taken and verified. [Pg.387]

Do re-validate processes that have been stopped for remedial action before running product. [Pg.396]

Don t release nonconforming product until remedial action has been authorized and carried out. [Pg.396]

When making the disposition your remedial action needs to address ... [Pg.442]

If you need to recall product that is suspected as being defective you will need to devise a recall plan, specify responsibilities and time-scales, and put the plan into effect. Product recall is a remedial action not a corrective action, as it does not prevent a recurrence of the initial problem. [Pg.443]

Any product that has had work done to it should be re-inspected prior to it being released to ensure the work has been carried out as planned and has not affected features that were previously found conforming. There may be cases where the amount of re-inspection is limited and this should be stated as part of the remedial action plan. However, after rework or repair the re-inspection should verify that the product meets the original requirement, otherwise it is not the same product and must be identified differently. [Pg.445]

Provide a means for tracking remedial actions on nonconforming articles. [Pg.446]

Do confirm the nonconformity before advocating remedial action. [Pg.448]

Do investigate the history of the nonconformity before specifying remedial action -the previous remedial action may not have been successful. [Pg.448]

Do record the remedial action required and the nature of re-verification. [Pg.448]

Do keep the records of the nature of nonconformity, the disposition, and the result of post-remedial action verification together. [Pg.448]

Customer complaints are addressed under the heading of corrective action however, you should not limit your action to eliminating the cause and preventing recurrence. You also need to take remedial action to deal with the particular complaint - hence the requirements of element 4.13 also apply to the handling of customer complaints. [Pg.455]

Many organizations use a Nonconformity Report to deal with the remedial action and a Corrective Action Report or Request (CAR) to prevent the recurrence of one or more nonconformities. In this way you are not committed to taking action on every incident but on a group of incidents when the action and its cost can be more easily justified. [Pg.457]
