Regulating valves

Most continuous pressure filters available (ca 1993) have their roots in vacuum filtration technology. A rotary dmm or rotary disk vacuum filter can be adapted to pressure by enclosing it in a pressure cover however, the disadvantages of this measure are evident. The enclosure is a pressure vessel which is heavy and expensive, the progress of filtration cannot be watched, and the removal of the cake from the vessel is difficult. Other complications of this method are caused by the necessity of arranging for two or more differential pressures between the inside and outside of the filter, which requires a troublesome system of pressure regulating valves. [Pg.405]

Ga.s Eeeders. Chlorine gas is usually fed from a chlorine cylinder equipped with a pressure gauge, reducing valve, regulating valve, feed-rate indicator, and aspirator-type injector for dissolving the chlorine gas in water. The feeder can be manually, or more desirably automatically, controlled utili2ing continuous amperometric or potentiometric measurement of the free chlorine residual. The chlorine solution is normally introduced into the return line to the filter. [Pg.297]

Damage will be confined to the bubble-collapse region, usually immediately downstream of the low-pressure zone. Components exposed to high velocity or turbulent flow, such as pump impellers and valves, are subject. The suction side of pumps (Case History 12.3) and the discharge side of regulating valves (Fig. 12.6 and Case History 12.4) are frequently affected. Tube ends, tube sheets, and shell outlets in heat exchanger equipment have been affected, as have cylinder liners in diesel engines (Case History 12.1). [Pg.275]

Full respiratory, eye and faeial proteetion is provided by full-faeepieee versions. The eompressed air is supplied from a eompressor through a manifold or from eylinders. [Pg.434]

The internal friction due to vortices occurs in rapid expansion, diverging, and regulation valves. The entropy generation due to those vortices is taken into consideration in the local resistance. The entropy generation is directly proportional to c- thus. [Pg.766]

Sensors TS 1-2-4 regulate the batteries for heating and cooling in a se quence to achieve the required temperatures (Fig. 9.56). Regulating valves for heat recovery are controlled by a frequency converter RCl for the pump motor. When a greater output is required from the heating battery, the pump motor speed increases before the valve MV2 opens. If the extract temperature is lower than the outdoor temperature, the speed of the pump motor increases before valve MVl opens. To avoid ice formation at low outdoor temperatures, the sensor TS7 operates on a lower limit, depending on the demands of the battery in the exhaust. [Pg.779]

Manufacturers of thermal anemometers provide small rigs for their calibration. They typically consist of a nozzle, an air supply unit, and a regulating valve. The probe is placed into the nozzle jet. The reference velocity is calculated from the nozzle upstream pressure and nozzle characteristics. Due to its small size, this type of rig can be used only for hot-wire or other thermal anemometers. ... [Pg.1158]

Adequately sized piping without block or regulating valves connects gas outlet to downstream equipment protected by a PSH that also protects the upstream vessel. [Pg.403]

Oversizing regulating valves should be avoided, as this will result in poor regulation characteristics the valve operating in an almost shut position and creating a very high local velocity. [Pg.408]

Back pressure regulation valves (Figure 9.5) can be used in the suction line, and their function is to prevent the evaporator pressure falling below a predetermined or controlled value, although the compressor suction pressure may be lower. [Pg.110]

A service gauge is usually fitted adjacent to the valve or as part of the valve assembly, to facilitate setting or readjustment. Above about 40 mm pipe size, the basic back pressure regulation valve is used as a pilot to operate a main servo valve. Other pilot signals can be used on the same servo. [Pg.111]

Water-cooled condensers can he fitted with a directly controlled water-regulating valve operated hy condenser pressure, or may have a three-way blending valve in the water circuit. [Pg.112]

A dry ice-isopropyl alcohol trap was inserted before the aspirator to catch any uncondensed product The checkers also inserted a manometer between this trap and the aspirator, and maintained the pressure during the reaction at 130-170 mm. by careful adjustment of the regulator valve of the nitrogen cylinder. [Pg.32]

A float-type FM regulator type is primarily employed on packaged FT boilers. It has a float chamber located at the NOWL and is connected to the steam-water areas of the boiler. When the water level falls, the float drops and mechanically moves a mercury switch (or electronic switch), which in turn actuates the FW regulator valve. [Pg.81]

Water-steam checks include monitoring boiler NOWL and operating steam pressure, and the periodic testing of low-water cutoff controls, pressure gauges, and the FW regulator valve. [Pg.120]
