Quality Assurance Agency

I hope that this book will be of interest to everyone involved with HEMs irrespective of their background R D laboratories, universities and institutes, production agencies, quality assurance agencies, homeland security, forensic laboratories, chemical industries and armed forces (army, navy and air force). This book will also be of immense use to organizations dealing with the production of commercial explosives and allied chemicals. 

Since 2011 he is also Secretary of INQAAHE, the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education.

Internal methods of quality assessment should always be viewed with some level of skepticism because of the potential for bias in their execution and interpretation. For this reason, external methods of quality assessment also play an important role in quality assurance programs. One external method of quality assessment is the certification of a laboratory by a sponsoring agency. Certification is based on the successful analysis of a set of proficiency standards prepared by the sponsoring agency. The audit also emphasizes the self-regulated nature of the industry and the ideal relationship between the agency and the industry. In theory and effective practice, a biomedical company utilizes its quality assurance (QA) unit (in this case, supplemented by credible Part 11 auditors) to maintain control of safety, effectiveness, and quality. The FDA can then review the quality system (QS) and spot-check the other systems such as laboratory or production for most efficient regulatory oversight. In effect, the QA regulates the company and the FDA regulates the QA.

The Food Standards Agency undertakes food chemical surveillance exercises. The FSA undertakes surveillance exercises, the data for which are acquired from analytical determinations. The Agency will take measures to ensure that the analytical data produced by contractors are sufficient with respect to analytical quality, i.e. that the results obtained meet predetermined analytical quality requirements such as fitness-for-purpose, accuracy and reliability. Thus when inviting tenders FSA will ask potential contractors to provide information regarding the performance requirements of the methods to be used in the exercise, e.g. limit of detection, accuracy, precision etc., and the quality assurance measures used in their laboratories. When presenting tenders, laboratories should confirm how they comply with these specifications and give the principles of the methods to be used. These requirements extend both to the laboratory as a whole and to the specific analytical determinations being required in the surveillance exercise. Materials. Aldicarb standards were obtained from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Quality Assurance Section and from Union Carbide Corporation. Crystalline samples of carbofuran and 3-hydroxycarbofuran were supplied by the Agricultural Chemical Group of FMC Corporation. Normally, the study subject is informed both verbally and in the ICF that certain other individuals besides the investigator site staff wiU view his or her medical records. In clinical studies sponsored by pharmaceutical companies or institutions, the monitoring and quality assurance (QA) personnel from the sponsors and CROs, and inspectors from a regulatory agency wiU review the medical records of the study subject.
