Project arrangements

The aim here is to review whether the general arrangements of the project have been adequately planned and prepared. The review focuses on aspects discussed in Section 3.2

All except the last two of these sets can be dismissed very simply by the following consideration the x and y coordinates of (c) and (d) are JO and 0 , and the c projection looks like Fig. 173. This projected arrangement is centred, and if it were correct, all hlcO reflections having h- -k odd would be absent. Actually,. such reflections are present—for example, 210. Hence these arrangements can be dismissed. Similarly the (e) arrangement in projection appears centred, and can likewise be dismissed. It is therefore certain that the oxygen atoms occupy either the (/) or the (g) set of fourfold positions. Since (/) and (gr) are equiva-... 

Assume first of all that the sodium ions do occupy two sets of symmetry centres, and consider the c projection only. Although in space there are four different combinations of two pairs of symmetry centres, there are only two different projected arrangements, which are illustrated in Fig. 182. Other combinations are equivalent to these thus (a)-j-( ) is equivalent to (a)-j-(d), when seen from this viewpoint. 

Figure 1.13 shows a systematic classification fliat includes both known and new types of complete phase diagrams (p-T projections) arranged in the order corresponding to their continuous topological transformation. The new types appear to fill the empty places in the process of continuous transformation.

The concept has become known as partnering and can be seen as a progression of the incentive contract. Whilst the previously described contractual arrangements are restricted to a single well project... 

The choice of contract type will depend upon the type of work, and the level of control which the oil company wishes to maintain. There is a current trend for the oil company to consider the contractor as a partner in the project (partnering arrangements), and to work closely with the contractor at all stages of the project development. The objective of this closer involvement of the contractor is to provide a common incentive for the contractor and the oil company to improve quality, efficiency, safety, and most importantly to reduce cost. This type of contract usually contains a significant element of sharing risk and reward of the project.

Depending on the product and sales arrangement, the revenues calculation can take from a few man-hours to many man-months of effort. For instance, determining the price for a synthetic fuel from coal can be done in a very short time, based on the cost of service. However, if the price is tied to the price of natural gas or oil, the task becomes very difficult, if not impossible. On the other hand, determining the sales growth and selling price for a new product requires a great deal of analysis, speculation, market research, and luck, but projections can be made.

A certain number of the tests will have been designated as witness tests. One is usually the hydrostatic test, which does not require an engineer but can be witnessed by an inspector. As a cost-saving measure, if engineers from another project happen to be in the plant at the time of the hydrostatic test, they may be able to arrange to witness the test, because the duration of the test is normally not long. It may take a total of two hours. 

Fischer projection formulas can be used to represent molecules with several stereogenic centers and are commonly used for caibohydrates. For other types of structures, a more common practice is to draw the molecule in an extended conformation witii the main chain horizontal. In this arrangement, each tetrahedral caibon has two additional substituents, one facing out and one in. The orientation is specified widi solid wedged bonds for substituents facing out and with dashed bonds for substituents that point in.
