Witness testing

A certain number of the tests will have been designated as witness tests. One is usually the hydrostatic test, which does not require an engineer but can be witnessed by an inspector. As a cost-saving measure, if engineers from another project happen to be in the plant at the time of the hydrostatic test, they may be able to arrange to witness the test, because the duration of the test is normally not long. It may take a total of two hours. [Pg.459]

The key phrase in this clause is or otherwise verified as it allows you to receive product into your company and straight onto the production line if you have verified that it conforms to the specified requirements before it arrives. An example of this is where you have performed acceptance tests or witnessed tests on the supplier s premises. You may also have obtained sufficient confidence in your supplier that you can operate a Just-in-time arrangement but you must be able to show that you have a continuous monitoring program which informs you of the supplier s performance. [Pg.379]

UL will nsnally mn the tests at their own test facilities in accordance with UL 525. Wlien a flame arrester snccessfully passes the tests it is given a Listing mark and is so pnblished in their Gas and Oil Eqnipment cata-logne. UL will also witness tests at other test facilities, if a flame arrester mannfactnrer so wishes, nnder the UL Witnessed Test Data Program. If the tests are condncted in accordance with UL 525, then the flame arrester is listed similarly as if the tests had been done at UL s laboratory. If a witnessed test is done at another laboratory in accordance with another test protocol (not UL 525), then the flame arrester is designated as Classified. All flame arresters that have a UL Listing or Classified mark may be fonnd on their web site www.nl.com... [Pg.191]

Observed means that the purchaser shall be notified of the timing of the inspection or test however, the inspection or test shall be performed as scheduled, and if the purchaser or his representative is not present, the vendor shall proceed to the next step. For smaller pumps where set-up and test time is short, five days notice may require the pump to be removed from the test stand between preliminary and witness tests. [Pg.78]

All witnessed inspections and tests are hold points. For observed tests, the purchaser should expect to be in the factory longer than for a witnessed test. [Pg.78]

Many purchasers prefer not to have preliminary tests prior to witnessed tests to understand any difficulties encountered during testing. If this is the case, purchasers should make itcleartothe vendor. [Pg.78]

The pharmaceutical manufacturer is not normally represented at supplier factory calibrations but for critical items should consider an option to inspect instrumentation and witness tests. Calibration certificates referencing the test procedure and test equipment should be sought, particularly for the instruments and regulating devices directly associated with quality-related critical parameter measurements and control. [Pg.609]

Since OQ2 witnessed testing takes place under operational conditions, there is no need to give guidance on the control of the testing environment. The IQ will provide evidence that the installation is appropriate for operational use. [Pg.73]

Witness test results as they occur. This requires personnel to monitor testing as it progresses and sign test results/outcomes as each test is completed. This approach need only be nsed to document critical observations where physical test evidence such as printouts are not directly available from the computer system (e.g., audible alarm). The role of the witness can be restricted to GxP-related Test Cases. [Pg.239]

The Validation Plan should also clearly indicate the split of responsibilities between user and supplier. It should be noted that the supplier is normally involved in all levels of testing. The Validation Plan should state that an independent expert (often QA), who will confirm that the testing is being carried out in accordance with the documented test strategy, may witness testing. This is important where the software is developed externally, or where the development is taking place centrally on behalf of several sites. [Pg.814]

After fabrication, ail the panels were interrogated by pulse echo ultrasound (10 MHz) and film X-ray. There was no indication of any delamination and no gross porosity regions were noted in the panels. In addition, each panel had two tensile bars extract for witness testing at room temperature. All samples tested failed above a 0.3% strain to failure requirement. Hence, all panels were accepted into the testing effort. Samples were cut out of the accepted plates and holes where drilled in diameters of 2.286 and 4.572 mm at the center of the lecimens forming 20% of the width of the specimen. [Pg.102]

There are many different types of testing that can be performed by a mixing equipment supplier. They range from customer sample testing to full scale witness testing. Tests may also include examination of the flow pattern with laser Doppler velocimetry (LDV) or computational fluid dynamics (CFD). [Pg.1343]

A test witness is a person acting as an on-the-scene observer of the performance of a test with the purpose of verifying compliance with project requirements. On some programs, a system safety engineer is required to witness testing hardware and/or software that is safety-related. [Pg.435]

Gas turbine package witness testing. Gas turbine packages are normally assembled in large factory buildings or in the open air between factory buildings. In either case, the environment is totally imsuitable for reliahle acoustic tests to be carried out using soimd level meters alone. Sound intensity techniques are especially relevant in these situations because of the location in which the tests are to be carried out and because some components, such as the compressor test loop, may... [Pg.39]

Managers must conduct project reviews and act on lessons learned. The commitment to safety must be pursued. Accountability at all levels of the organization must be defined to review safety documents, witness tests, and demand adherence to safety guidelines. [Pg.92]
