Procurement Characteristics

Procurement characteristics structure is a mirror of the sales characteristics except the sales-related services provided to customers (s. table 12). 

If you are procuring the services of a subcontractor to design and/or manufacture a product or service, you will need specifications which detail all the features and characteristics that the product or service is to exhibit. The reference number and issue status of the specifications need to be specified in the event that they change after placement of the purchase order. The principal reasons for drying of concentrates are usually one or more of the following (i) to make them easier to handle and to provide them with free-flowing properties, both for ease of shipment and for convenient use by the procurer (ii) to reduce the transportation cost of shipment to the user s premises and (iii) to preserve the physical and chemical characteristics or the condition of the concentrate during shipping and any storage before actual use. 

Another extremely important military characteristic is effectiveness against many different species of insects without the development of resistant strains. Every insecticide that must be added to the military list of supplies geometrically increases the difficulties of procurement and distribution. The master planning module coordinates procurement, production and distribution on a midterm level. Its major decision support is about sourcing which product is produced at which location and when. Thus, in this module the master production schedule is fixed. However, it is important to anticipate the key characteristics of the lower (short-term) planning levels within this module, because otherwise inconsistent plans (for procurement, production and distribution) will result on the lower planning level. 

Different types of industries require different characteristics to be taken into account, because in model-based planning the real decision situation must be represented adequately, as the solution will otherwise not provide any benefit. Along the lines of Meyr and Stadtler [3], the characteristics of different supply chains can be classified into functional attributes (procurement type, production type, distribution type, and sales type) and structural attributes (topography of a supply chain, integration, and coordination). 

Existing typologies are extended towards a value chain typology also considering aspects of sales and procurement value characteristics. The typology classifies the value chain by overall network as illustrated in fig. 40 ... 

The relaxation variables focus on the front-end of the value chain in sales and distribution excluding production and procurement due to the commodity value chain characteristics with long production lead times and less flexibility in the backend. Of course, it is possible to have relaxation variables for all constraints and areas of the value chain. However, this would lead to higher complexity for the planner as well as longer solution times with more integer variables. Therefore, relaxation is kept limited. 

Much of the relevant literature deals with defense procurement contracts (Rogerson 1994). Many of the characteristics of defense procurement also potentially apply to vaccines, including the role of the government as a major purchaser, uncertainty of outcomes, economies of scale, and the importance of innovation. 

Impubities.—rhosphorus is rarely adulterated, and the only impurities contained in it are those derived from the acid used in its preparation. Dumas considers flexibility as a characteristic of good phosphorus. Occasionally arsenic, antimony, bismuth, and some other metals have boon found in it. If the acid used contained arsenioua acid, or an oxide of antimony, these are reduced in the process of manufacture of phosphorus, and are found in it in the metallic state. A solution of phosphorus in dilute nitrio acid should give no precipitate with sulphide of hydrogen, and the precipitate procured by a barytic salt should be entirely soluble in excess of nitric acid, proving the absence of sulphur. If arsenic is present, the solution in nitrio acid deposits a black precipitate of metallic arsenic when submitted to evaporation.

Innovation. Developing a procurement capability that is intimately linked to the innovation priorities of the company can significantly boost innovation rates. These include parameters such as accuracy, precision, TAT, calibration frequency, potential interferants, calibrator...
