Preventive effort

The main problem with the traditional type of economic analysis is that it is difficult—nay, in some cases impossible—to quantify some of the not-so-obvious economic merits of a pollution-prevention program. Several considerations have just recently surfaced as factors that need to be taken into account in any meaningful economic analysis of a pollution-prevention effort. What follows is a summary listing of these considerations, most which have been detailed earher. 

A valuable QRA result is the importance of various components, human errors, and accident scenarios contributing to the total risk. The risk importance values highlight the major sources of risk and give the decision maker a clear target(s) for redesign or other loss prevention efforts. Family involvement can be quite helpful in the relapse prevention effort. One potentially useful strategy is for families to make efforts to reduce relationship stressors. These efforts will likely require couples or family therapy, which ideally will improve communication within the family system and potentially reduce friction. In addition, family members may learn to reduce any negatively expressed emotions toward the client. Family and couples therapy would be highly recommended if those stressors represent a high-risk situation for the client in question and if the family members or partner are supportive of the client s efforts toward recovery.

In the same year, the Comprehensive Methamphetamine Abuse Reduction Bill authorized more federal money for methamphetamine treatment and prevention programs, as well as targeting federal resources to high-use methamphetamine areas. 

The patient is the last individual in the medication use process. The pharmacist-patient interface can play a significant role in capturing medication errors before they occur. Unfortunately, many health care organizations do not take advantage of this key interaction. Three important factors play a role in any patient interface and often determine the outcome of error-prevention efforts. These include direct patient education, health care literacy, and patient compliance. 

This task helps prepare the plant or manufacturing area for a successful pollution prevention effort. A key aspect of this task is to have a team leader for the program. 

The special vulnerability of children should form the basis for development of child-protective policies and risk assessment approaches. A lack of lull proof for causal associations should not prevent efforts to reduce exposures or implement intervention and prevention strategies. 

The occupations identified by the frequency risk techniques and a chance of injury can be used to target prevention efforts and may reduce both the number and rates of fatalities and injuries for those workers at highest risk.
