Operating procedures functional operators

An operation is a procedure, function, or subroutine. The traditional OO term is method, but we prefer to avoid confusion with the method you follow (hopefully) to develop a program. In analysis, and at a more abstract level of design, we talk about actions an action occurrence may be one or more operation invocations. [Pg.170]

The designated federal officer (DEO) serves as the administrative officer of the committee to ensure that all operations, processes, and general procedures function properly and efficiently. The DEO serves as an executive secretariat to the NAC/AEGL Committee and is responsible for the following ... [Pg.170]

The RDBMS is installed and runs on a computer that functions as a database server. Any SQL commands are executed on the server by the RDBMS. Functions written in SQL or in any of the procedural languages mentioned above are also executed by the RDBMS. This has the advantage that the data tables used by these SQL commands or procedural functions are under the control of the server. This is the most efficient way to access the data. The disadvantage is that the server may have many requests to handle from many users. Another way to operate on data tables is indirectly, using a client program typically (although not necessarily) run from another computer. [Pg.33]

US NRC (2000) also raised several human performance issues associated with CBPs. The issues are as follows methodological and criterion requirements for evaluating CBP effects, role of plant personnel in procedure management, team performance, situation awareness, response planning, and operator error level of automation of procedure functions keyhole effects and use of multiple CBP procedures CBP failure in complex situations hybrid procedure systems and specific CBP design features. [Pg.17]

Operation nodes These nodes represent operations like arithmetic operations (-h, X, -r), boolean operations (A, V, <, >), or more complex operations. The complex operation nodes provide hierarchy within the graph semantics as used in description languages (procedures, functions). [Pg.28]

The inactive commissioning (cold testing) stage should provide a formal demonstration that the equipment and procedures function in the manner intended, especially those identified as important to the safety of plant operation, usually derived from the Safety Analysis Report (SAR). The Regulatory Body may wish to approve the results of inactive commissioning prior to the introduction of radioactive materials into the facility. [Pg.17]

In this figure the next definitions are used A - projection operator, B - pseudo-inverse operator for the image parameters a,( ), C - empirical posterior restoration of the FDD function w(a, ), E - optimal estimator. The projection operator A is non-observable due to the Kalman criteria [10] which is the main singularity for this problem. This leads to use the two step estimation procedure. First, the pseudo-inverse operator B has to be found among the regularization techniques in the class of linear filters. In the second step the optimal estimation d (n) for the pseudo-inverse image parameters d,(n) has to be done in the presence of transformed noise j(n). [Pg.122]

A number of procedures have been proposed to map a wave function onto a function that has the form of a phase-space distribution. Of these, the oldest and best known is the Wigner function [137,138]. (See [139] for an exposition using Louiville space.) For a review of this, and other distributions, see [140]. The quantum mechanical density matrix is a matrix representation of the density operator... [Pg.270]

Gopolymerization. The chemistry of the resin matrix, the type and degree of porosity, the particle size, and the particle size distribution are estabhshed in the copolymerization step. Formulations and operating procedures must be strictiy foHowed. Reaction vessels must be weH designed. Mistakes made during copolymerization are rarely corrected during functionalization. [Pg.372]

Quality Audit. Another important responsibiUty of quahty assurance is the audit function. Using the quahty audit as a tool, QA can monitor the operation of the manufacturing faciUty a toU, ie, contract, manufacturer or raw material suppHer to assure that written procedures are in place and that there is documentation to indicate the procedures are being followed. Properly executed audits allow QA to spot potential weakness in the quahty system that could allow errors to occur. Once identified, these weaknesses can then be corrected before they result in nonconformance. [Pg.371]

Top-Feed Procedure The sequence of operations with a top-feed leaf test is the same as in a bottom-feed test, except that the leaf is not immersed in the sluriy. The best method for transferring the slurry to the top-feed leaf is, of course, a function of the characteristics of the sluriy. If the particles in the sluriy do not settle rapidly, the feed can usually be transferred to the leaf from a beaker. If, however, the particles settle veiy rapidly, it is virtually impossible to pour the slurry out of a beaker satisfactorily. In this case, the best method is to make use of an Erlenmeyer flask, preferably one made of plastic. The slurry is swirled in the flask until it is completely suspended and then abruptly inverted over the leaf. This technique will ensure that all of the sohds are transferred to the leaf. [Pg.1698]

The components of a quality assurance program are designed to serve the two functions just mentioned—control and assessment. Quality control operations are defined by operational procedures, specifications, calibration procedures, and standards and contain the following components ... [Pg.223]

From the time function F t) and the calculation of [IT], the values of G may be found. One way to calculate the G matrix is by a fast Fourier technique called the Cooley-Tukey method. It is based on an expression of the matrix as a product of q square matrices, where q is again related to N by = 2 . For large N, the number of matrix operations is greatly reduced by this procedure. In recent years, more advanced high-speed processors have been developed to carry out the fast Fourier transform. The calculation method is basically the same for both the discrete Fourier transform and the fast Fourier transform. The difference in the two methods lies in the use of certain relationships to minimize calculation time prior to performing a discrete Fourier transform. [Pg.564]

Total enclosure may be in the form of a room with grilles to facilitate air flow this functions as a hood and operates under a slight negative pressure with controls located externally. Entry is restricted and usually entails use of comprehensive personal protective equipment. Ancillary requirements may include air filters/scmbbers, atmospheric monitoring, decontamination procedures and a permit-to-work system (see page 417). [Pg.406]

In this chapter, the elution curve equation and the plate theory will be used to explain some specific features of a chromatogram, certain chromatographic operating procedures, and some specific column properties. Some of the subjects treated will be second-order effects and, therefore, the mathematics will be more complex and some of the physical systems more involved. Firstly, it will be necessary to express certain mathematical concepts, such as the elution curve equation, in an alternative form. For example, the Poisson equation for the elution curve will be put into the simpler Gaussian or Error function form. [Pg.165]

The entire quality system shall be assessed at a minimum of once every three years. The audit plan for a supplier has to cover all requirements, all sites, all locations, all operations, all functions, all customers, all processes, all procedures at least once in a three-year cycle, unless it is an upgrade certification (see clause 4.6). Hence the sample of operations taken on each audit has to cover at least Veth of the whole. [Pg.70]
