National Editorial Association

The National Editorial Association, whose main office is in Chicago, collects annual data on markets and media concerning newspaper and commercial printing. Cost studies of production, market studies of consumption and sales, price studies of operation, and data on postal and other legislation pertaining to the industry are issued annually. In addition, information on new equipment, processes, and labor costs is assembled. [Pg.29]

Burwell s contributions to the scientific community include service on the governing body of the North American Catalysis Society from 1964 to 1977 as Director, Vice President, and, from 1973 until 1977, President. From 1955 until 1984 he served the International Congress on Catalysis, as a member of the Board of Directors as U.S Representative Vice President and President (1980-84). He chaired the Gordon Research Conference on Catalysis in 1957 and was Associate Editor (1984-88) and a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Catalysis. He served on National Research Council committees, IUPAC committees, the Petroleum Research Fund Advisory Board, the National Science Foundation... [Pg.21]

Dr. Mark is acknowledged throughout the scientific community as the father of polymer science. He received the National Medal of Science in 1980, the 1978 Senior U.S. Scientist Award, 29 other medals and awards from various international organizations, and 17 honorary degrees. In 1977, he was appointed as an Honorable Member of the Japan Chemical Society. He has published over 500 original and review articles and some 20 books on topics related to polymer chemistry. Dr. Mark is founder and first editor of the Journal of Polymer Science, the definitive publication in its field, and is currently editor of the Journal of Applied Science and associate editor of the Textile Research Journal. In addition to these duties he serves as Chairman of the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia of Polymer Science and Technology. [Pg.5]

This research was supported by funds from Cotton Incorporated, Cotton Foundation, and the South Carolina Lung Association. Dr. Pilia is a recipient of a National Kidney Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship. The authors gratefully appreciate the editorial assistance of Janet Vesterlund and the secretarial assistance of Charlotte Spain. [Pg.183]

Alain Berthod received his PhD in 1979 from the University of Lyon. He took an assistant professor s position at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) working in electrochemistry. In 1983 he was promoted as associate professor and in 1993 as research director. He focused on the developing and the use of micellar solutions and microemulsions in chromatography. His interests lie in the separation of chiral molecules and enantiorecognition mechanisms. He has contributed to the development of the countercurrent chromatography technique that uses a sup-port-free liquid stationary phase. He was member of the editorial board of major analytical chemistry and chromatography journals. He is editor-in-chief of Separation Purification Reviews (Taylor Francis, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). [Pg.402]

Many prominent people and organizations have supported the legalization of medical marijuana, including the American Public Health Association, former U.S. Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders, national associations of prosecutors and criminal defense attorneys, and the editorial boards of numerous newspapers, among others. Public opinion polls conducted by TIME/CNN in October 2002 report that approximately 80 percent of the American public supports patient access... [Pg.92]

Faculty of Pharmacy, MUG. Since 2000, he has been the head of the Department of Food Sciences, MUG. He has published approximately 200 papers, 17 book chapters, three books published by Elsevier and CRC Press Taylor Francis, and approximately 300 symposial abstracts. He has been a member of approximately 30 national and international scientific associations and organizations (including nine editorial boards, e.g., The Science of the Total Environment), for example, the International Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) and WG Marine Board—European Science Foundation. He has visited 14 countries as a visiting professor or research scientist. Dr. Szefer has reviewed approximately 600 manuscripts for more than 60 journals. He received several scientific awards, for example, one from the Scientific Secretary of the Division VII of the Polish Academy of Sciences nine awards from the Minister of Health and a joint award from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Natural Resources, and Forestry. His research is focused on food and marine chemistry, and bioanalytics. [Pg.503]

This work was supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH-NINDS) and American Heart Association. The author thanks Dr. David Schaal for editorial assistance and Beth Hoyte for preparation of the figures. [Pg.58]

Professor Jones s participation in professional societies and affairs outside the University were as follows Rapporteur for the Royal Society of Canada (Chemical Section) in 1971, and Convenor in 1972 Member of the Advisory Committee to the Atlantic Regional Laboratories of the National Research Council, Halifax, Nova Scotia Member of the Board of Governors of the Ontario Research Foundation Member of the Board of Advisors for the British Commonwealth for Advances in Carbohydrate Chemistry and Biochemistry Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Carbohydrate Research Chairman of the Fourth International Conference on Carbohydrate Chemistry, which was held in Kingston in 1967 and a Corresponding Member of the Nomenclature Committee of the Division of Carbohydrate Chemistry, American Chemical Society. Professor Jones was a member of The Chemical Society, the Biochemical Society, the Royal Institute of Chemistry (Associate), the Chemical Institute of Canada, the American Chemical Society, and the New York Academy of Sciences. [Pg.6]

I am greatly obligated to my colleagues and associates at the National Institutes of Health who contributed experimentally, conceptually, and editorially to this chapter. Special thanks are due to Drs. L. A. Cohen, E. Gross, and W. B. Lawson. Dr. C. B. Anfinsen, National Heart Institute, and Drs. A. Berger, A. Patchornik, and M. Sela from the Weizmann Institute were extremely helpful in making unpublished material available prior to publication. To them and many other cooperative authors I extend my sincere thanks. [Pg.314]

The American Association of Cereal Chemists appointed an Abstract Committee to study the problem of abstracts and indexes. Upon the recommendation of the committee, arrangements were made with Biological Abstracts (14 ) to publish a separate section. Section J, Abstracts of Cereals and Cereal Products. This has been published since 1948. Financial support is given by the AACC and the Millers National Federation (12). It is too early to evaluate Section J as a tool. Since it is part of so huge a service it cannot hope to attain the position of a current review-type service. There are no plans for separate indexing the index to the complete edition is included with each section subscription. The December 1951 issue has a Numerical Key to Contents of Section J. The latest subject index to Biological Abstracts is Volume 23, 1949. However, future editorial policy may improve this situation. [Pg.253]

Merriam. Science Service advertised the location of its editorial offices within the new National Academy of Sciences building to imply legitimacy and status (Figure 1), even though the staff operated independent of it or any other scientific association. [Pg.266]
