When quality is not according to specification, the customary action is to do it over according to plan. However, this needs to be more closely examined in some instances. For example, if the work or material exceeds specifications, you may choose to accept it. If it falls short, you need to consider how much it deviates from specifications and whether the deficiency will cause the project to fail its performance evaluation. The final decision may be to have the work redone, but that is not an automatic outcome. [Pg.836]

Test cells using the above graphite materials were evaluated in PC-based electrolytes. For this work, the hybrid pulse power characterization (HPPC) test was performed on cells with the different graphite anodes and PC-based electrolytes to evaluate their high power capabilities. These electrochemical experiments indicate that cells containing the surface-modified natural graphite can meet the power requirement set by the FreedomCar partnership for the hybrid vehicle applications. [Pg.298]

The main advantage of the proposal is that it needs no change of the national regulations and the manufacturer continues to evaluate his material performance by a test method he knows and understands. [Pg.482]

For the skin, this scale is used in the primary dermal irritation test, which is performed for those agents that are to be administered to patients by application to the skin. As with all local tolerance tests, it is essential that the material be evaluated in condition of use, that is, in the final formulated form, applied to test animals in the same manner that the agent is to be used clinically. [Pg.367]

Physical characterization of polymers is a common activity that research and development technologists at the Dow Chemical Company perform. A material property evaluation that is critical for most polymer systems is a tensile test. Many instruments such as an Instron test frame can perform a tensile test and, by using specialized software, can acquire and process data. Use of an extensometer eliminates calibration errors and allows the console to display strain and deformation in engineering units. Some common results from a tensile test are modulus, percent elongation, stress at break, and strain at yield. These data are then used to better understand the capabilities of the polymer system and in what end-use applications it may be used. [Pg.453]

Common technical specifications (CTS) are to be adopted by the Article 7.2 Committee (a working group of scientific experts appointed by the Member States) which will apply to devices in Annex II List A and, when required, devices in Annex II List B. There is some uncertainty about the circumstances in which the requirement might apply to List B devices. CTS establish appropriate performance evaluation and re-evaluation criteria, batch release criteria, reference methods, and reference materials. If, for duly justified reasons, manufacturers do not comply with the CTS, they must adopt other solutions which are at least equivalent to these specifications. CTS are intended mainly for the evaluation of the safety of the blood supply and organ donations. [Pg.548]

The identification of the solid phases and the evaluation of their crystallinity were performed by X-ray powder diffraction while the pore volume of the ZSM-48 materials was evaluated by isothermal (90 °C) sorption of n-hexane, followed in the thermobalance (Stanton Redcroft ST-780 combined TG-DTA-DTG thermoanalyser). [Pg.31]

Interlaboratory Quality Control. In addition to the mandatory quality control practices just outlined, the laboratory is encouraged to participate in interlaboratory programs such as relevant performance evaluation (PE) studies, analysis of standard reference materials, and split sample analyses. Participation in interlaboratory analytical method validation studies is also encouraged. [Pg.88]

Hence, in this work, we report the heterogeneization of this new chiral macrocycle onto micelle-templated silicate (MTS) surface by substitution of chlorine atom of previously grafted 3-chloropropyl chain. After A-alkylation of the tetraazamacrocycle with propylene oxide and metalation with Mn(lI)Cl2, the catalytic performance of the corresponding hybrid materials was evaluated in the heterogeneous enantioselective olefin epoxidation. [Pg.774]

In the last entry in Table III more than 50 samples were extracted in an experiment surveying the performance of laboratory robotic equipment. These included 2.0 gram samples of soils extracted with pure C02,2.5 gram samples of a reverse phase material extracted with C02 and mixtures of C02 with various modifiers, 2.0 gram samples of ground coffee plus aliquots of modifiers dispersed on the samples within the sample thimble extracted with pure CO and 20 microliter aliquots of performance evaluation standard (PES, octadecane in isooctane) on simple matrices extracted with pure C02. The variety of analytes and complex matrices along with the number of different runs clearly show that the instrumentation is reliable. [Pg.279]

Test Automated Testing of Materials for Evaluation of Performances 253... [Pg.253]

Test conducted using a reference toxicant in conjunction with a toxicity test to appraise the sensitivity of the organisms and the precision and reliability of results obtained by the laboratory at the time the test material is evaluated. Deviations outside an established normal range indicate that the sensitivity of the test organisms (and/or the performance and precision of the test) are suspect. Volume 1(2,7,10). [Pg.402]

The training material developed by the TrainMiC board was compiled as the EUR report 20841 and is available for download from the TrainMiC web site [96]. At present seven modules are bnalized A general introduction to Metrology in Chemistry Validation of measurement procedures Traceability of measurement results Uncertainty of measurement results Proper use of certi bed reference materials (CRM) Interlaboratory comparisons (ILC), and Applied statistics, relevant for the calculation of an uncertainty budget or the performance evaluation. Additional modules are in progress to cover issues such as sampling, QC, and QA. [Pg.214]

In this context, a review is presented of the complex chain of events affecting anode performance, ranging from the properties of precursors for filler cokes and binder pitches, through production of these raw materials and their fabrication into anode carbon, and concluding with anode performance evaluation in full-size prebake and Soderberg cells of different designs. [Pg.242]
