Maintenance, evaluating needs

Maintenance Evaluation of patients with schizophrenia who had been stable on other antipsychotic medications for periods of 3 months or longer, were discontinued from those medications, and were then administered aripiprazole 15 mg/day and who were observed for relapse for up to 26 weeks demonstrated a benefit of such maintenance treatment. Periodically reassess patients to determine the need for maintenance treatment. [Pg.1129]

In parallel with the continuous development of innovative robotic systems, in order to promote their use it is also crucial to provide an extensive evaluation of efficacy, safety, reliability, and users and families acceptance of the developed systems. The MUNDUS system was evaluated on six end users affected by neuromotor disorders (three spinal cord injuries, one multiple sclerosis, and two Friedreich s ataxia), and a high level of usability, user satisfaction, and motor performance were observed [125]. In the future, more trials conducted in natural environments are needed. Last but not least, to increase accessibility both investment and maintenance costs need to be reduced. [Pg.28]

Symptom relapse also occurs in most endoscopy-negative reflux disease patients after cessation of treatment. Therefore, long-term maintenance therapy needs to be developed also for this patient group [20]. Two therapeutic approaches with omeprazole have been evaluated, either continuous [83] or on demand treatment [84]. Continuous treatment maintains most patients in clinical remission, but a similar effect on patient satisfaction was obtained with omeprazole therapy on demand (Fig. 5). On an average, omeprazole 20 mg was taken every other day when the on-demand strategy was tested. It is important to identify patients who complain of frequent and severe reflux symptoms and who will sub-... [Pg.229]

Data for component unavailability for SLP PSA have significantly different emphases than that for the power PSA. While in the power PSA the unavailability of safety components are (often) dominated by the failures in stand-by, in SLP PSA they are clearly dominated by maintenance unavailability. Maintenance schedules and actual duration of various tests and maintenance actions need to be carefully evaluated to determine the actual equipment availability (of major systems specific POS depending on their status may be defined). For random failures, the failure rates used in the power PSA could be used (although some of the analysts argue that the random failure rates to be sued in SLP PSA shall be different that for power PSA, no conclusive evidence of such position has been demonstrated). [Pg.25]

Once the need for a LIMS has been justified, specifications have been written, and available vendors surveyed, the LIMS selection process begins. Each vendor s product must be evaluated for conformance to the specification and flexibiUty for future modifications. If an adequate solution is not available commercially, consideration must be given to constmcting a custom LIMS solution. This could be done in-house or by contractors. If the custom option is preferred, resources needed for future modifications and maintenance should be factored into the cost. [Pg.520]

To facilitate the maintenance of equipment with different performance criteria, written procedures are needed that serve as a record of the process used to evaluate the system s performance. Maintenance by appropriately trained personnel should be performed at regular intervals before equipment parts fail. [Pg.1042]

The maintenance of desired phenotypic features over multiple generations will need to be periodically evaluated. If a feature is unstable over the experimental period, it will be necessary to evaluate other clones or generate new clones. If the phenotype changes as a result of multiple subcultures, earlier passages can be thawed (if they have been appropriately generated and stored) and utilized appropriately. Once the immortalized clones have been established and characterized for desired phenotypic features, they can then be used for numerous biochemical, molecular biological, and pharmacological studies. [Pg.628]

Apart from the need to avoid such adverse effects on the people involved in the investigation of an explosion, there is also a need to be aware of possible risks to the quality of the actual work. Good scientific work requires the maintenance of an impartial objective and open-minded attitude to the collection and evaluation of evidence. Moreover, the more horrific the crime, the more important it is to establish the tmth... [Pg.230]

Maintenance treatment There is no evidence available from controlled trials to indicate how long the patient with ADHD should be treated with atomoxetine. However, pharmacological treatment of ADHD may be needed for extended periods. Periodically re-evaluate the long-term usefulness of the drug for the individual patient. [Pg.1172]

One conclusion from the SITE evaluation was that the cost of the technology is small compared to the benefits of enhanced remediation and the reduced number of wells needed to complete the remediation (D10054P, p. iv). In addition, the DOE concluded that hydraulic fractioning decreased the time required to cleanup a site due to more efficient contaminant removal. As a result, the maintenance and operating costs over the life cycle of the project also decreased (D183771, section 5 p. 2). [Pg.601]

Other instruments for evaluation of electron beam process are real-time monitors. They provide a continuous display in real time of dose delivered to product, as well as the energy of the electron beam. Moreover, they can show the variations in dose across a wide web if multiple detectors are installed and provide alarm signals to warn the operator of high- and low-dose conditions, and record the performance of the processor for production control, quality assurance, and maintenance needs. The major advantage of these real-time instruments is that they monitor the current and beam energy independently. ... [Pg.220]

System Evaluation and Supplier Assessment Usually there are many choices and suppliers for common COTS laboratory instruments. The user requirements and the operational requirements will provide the basic criteria for the selection. Obviously the chosen instrument must be able to fulfill the key requirements for its intended use. Other factors concerning the instrument such as its ease of use, maintenance, and reputation of the suppliers in terms of quality, reliability, and support should be considered. From a practical point of view, a supplier audit may not be viable or necessary for commonly used COTS instruments. A supplier assessment is sometimes used to evaluate whether the supplier has a good-quality system in place to support the development and manufacturing of the instrument of interest. The need for a supplier assessment depends on the criticality and complexity of the system to be obtained. [Pg.798]

The most outstanding source of instability, which from an academic point of view may be difficult to realize, is the corrosion that can arise at open circuit when a cell is shut down for maintenance or other reasons [108]. The cathode can simply corrode, or can be oxidized. In the latter case, the residual oxide can be deleterious for the catalytic activity since it may remain unreduced even under cathodic load. Therefore, cathode materials usually contain additives whose function is to reduce the consequences of shut-downs [109]. Laboratory experiments should thus include also this kind of test if a complete analysis of the material is to be done [105, 108, 110]. If the cathode corrodes, some cathodic protection may need to be maintained during shut-downs [7], which is of course to be accounted for in the evaluation of the economic efficiency. [Pg.12]
