The aforementioned reviews and assessments were assimilated to characterize the effect of dielectric, rotational, and mechanical hazards on motor performance and operational readiness. Functional indicators were identified that can be monitored to assess motor component deterioration caused by aging or other accidental stressors. The study also includes a preliminary discussion of current standards and guides, maintenance programs, and research activities pertaining to nuclear power plant safety-related electric motors. Included are motor manufacturer recommendations, responses from repair facilities to a questionnaire, in-service inspection data, expert knowledge, USNRC-IE audit reports, and standards and guides published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). [Pg.98]

The synchronous motor starts and accelerates the connected load like an induction motor, and is designed to give the hest possible induction-motor operation during starting, consistent with good synchronous-motor performance. [Pg.619]

Determine the appropriate circulation flowrate to be used for the diamond bit, turbine motor combination and the appropriate liner size to be used in the triplex pump. Also, prepare the turbine motor performance graph for the chosen circulation flowrate. Determine the total flow area for the diamond bit. [Pg.874]

Bit Pressure Loss. To obtain the optimum circulation flowrate for the diamond bit, turbine motor combination, it will be necessary to consider the bit and the turbine motor performance at various circulation flowrates 200, 300, 400 and 500 gal/min. [Pg.874]

It should be noted that the positive displacement motor performance parameters are independent of the drilling mud weight. Thus, these performance parameters will vary with motor design values and the circulation flowrate. [Pg.889]

Positive Displacement Motor Performance. Using the positive displacement motor performance data in Table 4-114 and the scaling relationships in Equations 4-168 through 4-170, the performance graph for the positive displacement motor operating with a circulation flowrate of 348 gal/min can be prepared. This is given in Figure 4-213. [Pg.895]

To monitor the motors performance, a plot can be made in real time of the mechanical horsepower versus the hydraulic horsepower. The curve should be similar to the MHP curve of Figure 4-315 since, according to equation 4-233, at constant Q, the hydraulic power is proportional to AP, An example is shown in Figure 4-317 where measurements have been made at various RPM. [Pg.1029]

Despite the fact that in quantitative studies of motor performance they often appear to produce more benefit than levodopa and are less likely to cause dyskinesia and ON-OFF fluctations, patients tend to prefer levodopa. Possibly unless DA function is... [Pg.310]

Examples of multi-disciplinary innovation can also be found in the field of environmental catalysis such as a newly developed catalyst system for exhaust emission control in lean burn automobiles. Japanese workers [17] have successfully merged the disciplines of catalysis, adsorption and process control to develop a so-called NOx-Storage-Reduction (NSR) lean burn emission control system. This NSR catalyst employs barium oxide as an adsorbent which stores NOx as a nitrate under lean burn conditions. The adsorbent is regenerated in a very short fuel rich cycle during which the released NOx is reduced to nitrogen over a conventional three-way catalyst. A process control system ensures for the correct cycle times and minimizes the effect on motor performance. [Pg.7]
