Mercury(ii) cobalt tetrathiocyanate, as recommended by Figgis and Nyholm, was used as the magnetic standard. The same tube was used for the sample and standard, and corrections were made to take account of the weight changes due to it the empty tube correction was obtained for the complete temperature range. [Pg.252]

When a solution of a nickel salt is treated with diaminoethane, coordinated water is replaced by the chelating ligand. When the molar ration is 1 3, three ligand molecules replace the six water molecules. The complex cation formed can be precipitated by thiosulphate. The crystalline product is not hygroscopic and has no water of crystallisation and is a suitable magnetic standard. [Pg.111]

The basic condition of the Standard application - the availability of stable coupled probabilistic or the multiple probabilistic relations between then controlled quality indexes and magnetic characteristics of steel. Calibration procedure bases on rope specimens and corresponds to the Standard Pratice ASTM 1574. It takes a piece of the rope under test having a nominal metallic cross-section area (LMA=0) to set zero point of the instrument. Rope section with the LMA value known is used to set the second point of LMA calibration charactiristics. It is possible to use the air point calibration when there is no rope in a magnetic head (LMA=100%). [Pg.337]

With a standard image intensifier, characterized by a gain of more than x10,000, the quantum well effect is clearly avoided. Nevertheless this very high gain reduces the image dynamics unless strong attenuation is introduced at the tube output (iris or neutral filter). Also a standard intensifier is bulky, affected by pincushion distortion and magnetic fields which can be a serious limitation in some applications. [Pg.596]

The low MW power levels conuuonly employed in TREPR spectroscopy do not require any precautions to avoid detector overload and, therefore, the fiill time development of the transient magnetization is obtained undiminished by any MW detection deadtime.
