Chelating ligand

The best characterized complexes [146] are prepared as shown in Figure 2.83. In synthesis (a) the first step involves demethylation of both ligands only one phosphine chelates, demonstrating the stability of square planar d8 iridium(I) on oxidation, the CO is displaced (as C02) and both ligands chelate. 

Reactions through chelated TS Reactions of a- or (3-oxy-substituted aldehydes often show chelation-controlled stereoselectivity with Lewis acids that can accommodate five or six ligands. Chelation with substituents in the allylic reactant can also occur. The overall stereoselectivity depends on steric and stereoelectronic effects in the chelated TS. 

The problems associated with the in situ approaches can be avoided by using a discrete catalyst. The presumed structure of the monometallic palladium catalyst contains the sulfonated phosphine ligand chelated to the palladium and a palladium-carbon bond (polymer), most probably in cis geometry with respect to the phosphorous (Fig. 8). 

During manufacture, many reagents are exposed to metal. It is recommended that the highest-purity acids, bases, salts, ligands, chelates, and other reagents be used. It is best if none of the extracting solutions contain the analyte of interest. If this is not possible, then care must be taken to make sure that the appropriate blanks are used during analysis.

The action of bromine on potassium tris-malonatocobalt(iii) leads only to decomposition however, with iV-bromosuccinimide in CC, K3[Co(bromo-malonatelj] is formed.The structure of [Co(amidoxalato)2(H20)2]2H20 shows it to have a rra s-octahedral structure, the amido-oxalate ligands chelating via one carboxylate oxygen and the amidic oxygen.

Some ligands chelating Zn(II) ions were also found to be effective corrosion inhibitors [309, 310] owing to the growth of an organometallic layer strongly attached to the metal surface, which prevent the formation of porous corrosion products.
