Load determination

The maximum desilvering speed is related to the maximum current the power supply will deliver. When the efficiency is high, a current of lA will recover 4g of metallic silver per hour. The daily load determines the maximum current required. A 3A unit will typically be used for up to 15 m of film per day. [Pg.605]

TWI = Taber Wear Index. CS-10 abraser wheels, 100 gram load, determined as average weight loss per 1000 cycles for total test of 6000 cycles. [Pg.108]

The rapid increase in the separation factors observed for the individual series of columns reflected not only the improvement in the intrinsic selectivities of the individual selectors but also the effect of increased loading with the most potent selector. Although the overall loading determined from nitrogen content remained virtually constant at about 0.7 mmol g for all CSPs, the fractional loading of each selector increased as the number of selectors in the mixture decreased. Thus, the whole method of building block selection and sublibrary synthesis can be also viewed as an amplification process. [Pg.89]

Pressure vessels are subjected to other loads in addition to pressure (see Section 13.4.7) and must be designed to withstand the worst combination of loading without failure It is not practical to give an explicit relationship for the vessel thickness to resist combined loads. A trial thickness must be assumed (based on that calculated for pressure alone) and the resultant stress from all loads determined to ensure that the maximum allowable stress intensity is not exceeded at any point. [Pg.831]

For an aquatic model of chemical fate and transport, the input loadings associated with both point and nonpoint sources must be considered. Point loads from industrial or municipal discharges can show significant daily, weekly, or seasonal fluctuations. Nonpoint loads determined either from data or nonpoint loading models are so highly variable that significant errors are likely. In all these cases, errors in input to a model (in conjunction with output errors, discussed below) must be considered in order to provide a valid assessment of model capabilities through the validation process. [Pg.159]

In the first step all suitable vessels are determined which meet the technical requirements of all basic operations of the control-recipe and which are able to hold the maximum load determined by the (scaled) recipe. Additionally all stations are selected which are suitable to fulfil at least the requirements of the next recipe step. In the case of parallel steps in the recipe, all basic operations occurring in this... [Pg.41]

The following loads are computed from free field blast wave parameters. Refer to Chapter 3 for load determination procedure. [Pg.254]

In a study of the precision of the SASS train for the collection of particulates and organics from gas streams, total particulate loadings determined with two independent SASS trains agreed within 20 percent of the value determined with a standard EPA Method 5 train operated simultaneously on triplicate runs. The size distributions determined by the two trains were also in good agreement for all three runs as illustrated in Figure 6. The quantity and distribution of extractable organics between the two systems was also well within Level 1 tolerances as shown in Table III. [Pg.42]

Prepare five stoppers covered with 1000 endotoxin units each. Place the stoppers in a net and place them in the process vessel during a standard run with a 100% loading. Determine the endotoxin quantity present on the five stoppers. [Pg.300]

The determination of the heat to be dissipated by a cooling tower is an essential factor that not only affects the tower size, but also its effectiveness. If the heat load. determination is not accurate, either too high or too low, a larger or smaller size tower than is needed for a particular job could be selected. [Pg.104]

Air saturated 65°F (65°F wet-bulb) has an enthalpy of Hls = 30.4 Btu/lb air at the outlet temperature of 80°F (value interpolated from Table 5.4). This is the exit conditions of the tower and thus represents one endpoint on the operating line (point C). The liquid and air loadings determine the slope of the operating line starting at point C ... [Pg.115]

With carbon loading determined, one is in a position to evaluate the carbon loss from the bed. The three principal sources are carbon withdrawn from the bed with spent solids, elutriation of carbon that has burned down to an elutriable size range, and the elutriation of fines produced by attrition. [Pg.91]

River water runoff is responsible for many hydrological features of river mouths and their parts - deltas, semi-enclosed coastal water bodies and open nearshore zone. Water runoff influences water levels in deltas, delta inundation, water salinity at the mouths, etc. Water runoff depresses action of the storm surges on the deltas. River sediments load determines channel processes, sedimentation in a delta and nearshore, delta formation processes, the rate of delta progradation into the sea. [Pg.99]

Several methods for load determination have been described in the literature however, it is important to point out that application of more than one method very often leads to different results. For those resins where incorporation of an amino acid is easily achieved, amino acid analysis of the acid-hydrolyzed amino acid (peptide) resins should be the method of choice because it gives the real amino acid content. The amino acid to be incorporated into the resin should be stable to the acid conditions. Thus, Ser, Thr, Cys, and Tyr should be avoided. After incorporation of the amino acid, washing of the peptide-resin is advisable in order to remove the excess protected amino acid that is not covalently attached to the resin. [Pg.720]
