The NRC now requires dedicated emergency operations facilities (NUREG-0737, Rev. 1) to be constructed, maintained, and tested near each plant.During any future accident, a joint information center would provide a common location for utility, federal, state, and local representatives to communicate with the media. In the year 1984, the Directive to the European Commission established an industrial accident notification scheme, the MARS, operated and maintained by the Major Accident Hazards Bureau of the Commission s Joint Research Center in Ispra, Italy. The objective is to use this information as a basis from which to draw lessons learned for preventing major accidents and mitigating then-consequences.

STN International Scientific Technical Network, computer system which is jointly offered by three database producers the American Chemical Society, -y FIZ Karlsruhe and the Japan Information Center of Science and Technology (JICST). The three service centers at CAS in Columbus (USA), in Karlsruhe (Germany) and in Tokyo are linked via satellite and submarine cable. STN currently offers about 160 databases in a variety of scientific and technical subject areas. 

GORE. The CORE Electronic Chemistry Library is a joint project of Cornell University, OCLC (On-line Computer Library Center), Bell Communications Research (Bellcore), and the American Chemical Society. The CORE database will contain the full text of American Chemical Society Journals from 1980, associated information from Chemical Abstracts Service, and selected reference texts. It will provide machine-readable text that can be searched and displayed, graphical representations of equations and figures, and full-page document images. The project will examine the performance obtained by the use of a traditional printed index as compared with a hypertext system (SUPERBOOK) and a document retrieval system (Pixlook) (6,116). 

In 1979, the joint center for three international organizations (UNEP, FAO, and WHO) monitoring food product contamination started collecting relevant data. Generalized information covered the period from 1971 onward it was collected widely, from Australia, New Zealand and Japan to Great Britain, Canada, and the USA [79].
