Information for public

Directories of information on computerized sources, such as the Gale Directory of Databases (Gale Research Inc.) and the Mekler directory CD-ROMs in Print, give identification, coverage, content, and availability information for publicly available electronic files, as do many of the literature guides listed in the introduction to this entry. An example of a resource tool more limited in scope is the Environmental Software Directory (Donley Technologies). Articles and columns appearing in the information science literature [Online, Searcher, Database, CD-ROM Professional, and Information Today) can provide excellent reviews of new files and comparative studies on resources in specific subject areas. [Pg.1428]

The ICCIDD has provided scientific leadership in a series of meetings with the WHO and UNICEF concerned with different technical aspects of control programs, such as the methods of assessment and the criteria for elimination (WHO/UNICEF/ICCIDD, 2001). The ICCIDD plays a special role in adapting scientific information for public health recommendations. [Pg.725]

By comprehensive analysis and evaluation of urban resource and environment, we can get a lot of useful information for public policy making. In this paper, we divided the Evaluation systeminto six parts respectively, there are atmospheric environment, acoustic environment, water environment, radiation environment, the meteorological environment, water resources, land resources. According the six parts, we build a index system and a model to make evaluations of urban resource and environment. [Pg.1267]

Individual monitoring is concerned with measurements carried out directly on people. It is not normally used in routine monitoring programmes for public exposure but it could be employed following an accident to assess actual doses to individuals and to provide information to the public [6]. Special programmes of individual monitoring may be undertaken for scientific purposes such as the validation of models or the provision of information for public reassurance. [Pg.29]

Some manufacturers may consider SDS information to be proprietary, and would not want to post this information for public access. Other manufacturers, however, have taken advantage of the Internet and use this as a vehicle for the downstream flow of hazard information. OSHA suggests that manufacturers who use the Internet to supply SDSs to downstream users do the following ... [Pg.160]

Worldwide Offshore Accidenf Dafabank (WOAD) is one of the main sources for obtaining offshore accidenf-relafed information for public use. It is operated by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) of Norway. Most of the data contained in the WOAD is from fhe Norwegian and UK sectors and the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, and if confains more fhan 6000 events from 1975 onward, including near misses, incidenfs, and accidenfs [3]. [Pg.134]

Temperatures on ITS-90, as on earlier scales, are defined in terms of fixed points, interpolating instruments, and equations that relate the measured property of the instrument to temperature. The report on ITS-90 of the Consultative Committee on Thermometry is published in Metrologia and in the Journal of Research of the National Institute of Standards and Technology The description that follows is extracted from those publications.3 Two additional documents by CCT further describe ITS-90 Supplementary Information for the ITS-90, and Techniques for Approximating the ITS-90.4... [Pg.618]

Pharmacopoeia publications provide a final important source of information for the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory authorities, and the healthcare professions. These are concerned with establishing quality standards. These publications include monographs that define specifications for the purity and identity of established pharmaceutical ingredients, both active and non-active, together with recognised analytical methods that may be used to evaluate them. The most relevant are the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) and the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph.Eur). [Pg.7]

CICADs are concise documents that provide summaries of the relevant scientific information concerning the potential effects of chemicals upon human health and/or the environment. They are usually based on selected national or regional evaluation documents or on existing EHCs. Before acceptance for publication as CICADs by IPCS, these documents undergo extensive peer review by internationally selected experts to ensure their completeness, accuracy in the way in which the original data are represented, and the validity of the conclusions drawn. [Pg.1]
