Spitzer, Robert. The Politics of Gun Control. 3d ed. New York CQ Press, 2004. This updated survey and analysis covers the development of gun culture, criminological issues, legislative and legal debates (including the Second Amendment), interest groups (including the NRA and Brady Campaign), public opinion, and the relationship of gun issues to overall political trends. 

This volume is divided into two parts. Part 1 provides a detailed and authoritative review of the science and technology of solvents and issues relating to solvents, written by respected figures from within the solvents industry. Environmental Chemistry, Health Safety can be used to document risk assessment, to assess potential environmental, health, and safety problems, and to study a company s environmental and safety experiences. 

Other courts addressing this problem have refused to adopt a rule of proportional recovery. Some have asserted that such a fundamental change of a basic tort principle is more appropriately a legislative function. Others have expressed concern that the long latency period renders any reconstmction of market shares highly speculative. The Restatement notes the opposing views but takes no position on this controversial issue.

Bentazone has been monitored in the NRA Anglian Region since 1993 and the results show that bentazone is regularly present in surface and groundwaters. Currently there are no restrictions on its use, but bentazone is due to be reviewed under the Authorizations Directive, the new European legislation for pesticide approvals, and the issue of water pollution will be raised. 

Laboratories wishing to claim GLP compliance are nonually registered with Competent Authorities who issue statements of compliance following successful periodic inspections of the premises to monitor compliance with the relevant legislation. In the UK compliance with the Good Laboratory Practice Regulations 1999 is audited by the Medicines Control Agency. 

There are two types of external documents, those in the public domain and those produced by specific customers. In some cases the issues of both types of documents are stated in the contract and therefore it is important to ensure that you possess the correct version before you commence work. Where the customer specifies the issue status of public domain documents that apply you need a means of preventing their withdrawal from use in the event that they are revised during the term of the contract. Where the issue status of public domain documents is not specified you may either have a free choice as to the issue you use or, as is more likely, you may need to use the latest issue in force. Where this is the case you will need a means of being informed when such documents are revised to ensure that you can obtain the latest version. The ISO 9000 series for instance is reviewed every five years, so could well be revised at five-year intervals. With national and international legislation the situation is rather different as these can change at any time. You need some means of alerting yourself to changes that affect you and there are several methods from which to choose ...

In addition, manufacturers obtained language allowing federal standards to preempt state efforts in most cases. Pursuant to this legislation, the Carter Administration proposed appliance standards in mid-1980, but was unable to issue a final rule before the Reagan Administration took over.

Mercury, which is found in trace amounts in fossil fuels such as coal and oil, is liberated during the combustion process and these emissions may be regulated in the future. EPA issued an Information Collection Request (ICR) that required all coal-fired plants to analyze their feed coal for mercury and chlorine. Since these data will be used in making a regulatory decision on mercury near the end ot the year 2000, it is critical that the power industry provide the most accurate data possible. 

Issue an improvement notice if there is a legal contravention of any statutory legislation relevant to the activity in that the activity cannot be continued until the remedial action specified in the notice is implemented. This notice can be served on the person who is deemed to be contravening the legal provision or who is responsible for the activity, whether they are an employer, employee or a supplier of equipment or materials.
