Environmental issues legislation

This volume is divided into two parts. Part 1 provides a detailed and authoritative review of the science and technology of solvents and issues relating to solvents, written by respected figures from within the solvents industry. Environmental Chemistry, Health Safety can be used to document risk assessment, to assess potential environmental, health, and safety problems, and to study a company s environmental and safety experiences.

In sum, the 1970s saw a flurry of legislative action on environmental issues that was to set the framework of the nation s policies for dealing with the pollution of air, water, and land resources. Almost all of this legislation has been modified, hut the guiding principles represented by the laws continue to influence the nation s environmental policies today.

At no time in modern history has the general public been more conscious of health and environmental issues. Due to stricter legislation, environmental issues are becoming more of a concern to pharmaceutical companies. The future is likely to see expert systems being used to a greater degree for predicting the impact of certain chemicals on the environment.
