Both the capillary LC and NMR are controlled by the interface software, which enables the operator to use the UV-detector output for peak selection. Only peaks of interest can be subjected to NMR analysis, while minor or unimportant compounds can be directed to waste. NMR acquisition can take place in either on-flow or stop-flow mode. The combination of capillary LC and NMR is suitable for sample-limited applications (e.g., proteomics) and allows for low nanograms detection. 

If you have installed MAPI (mail application interface) software on your PC, you may exploit the MS-WINDOWS mailslot-function to e-mail NMR data directly to and from your PC. The full version of ID-WIN-NMR allows you to export/irnport FlDs, spectra, tables, text-files, relaxation data and metafiles to/from other users of (the full version of) ID WIN-NMR. Both JCAMP-DX5 and Bruker specific binary format are supported. Compared to the procedure outlined in section 2.6.5 this is an even more convenient way for exporting/importing NMR data via Internet. The DFS is a graphical user interface software application that has the look and feel of most Windows-based applications. DFS uses standard Windows features, such as icons, drop-down menus, buttons, scroll bars, and dialog boxes.

Version Control — In modem systems, the interface software, including customizations, is often on the client or the user s desk and, hence, is open to the possibility that the wrong version of the software is installed, e.g., not updated during an upgrade operation or interference by the user. Some automatic means (also subject to validation) should be found to check that the correct software is installed and preventing use if this is not the case.

There are several components to an interface, including its communication type as well as the interface software. Each aspect must be matched on both the printer and the computer. For example, an HP LaserJet 4L only has a parallel port. Therefore, you must use a parallel cable as well as the correct software for the platform being used (e.g., a Macintosh HP LaserJet 4L driver if you connect it to a Macintosh computer).

A schematic of the assay procedure is shown. See Figure 2. During the CCD camera based assay the standard or the sample is pre-incubated with excess of the 2,4-D specific antibody in the solution phase. This mixture is transferred to a 2,4-D-BSA conjugate coated well, where the unreacted antibodies bind. Advanced control algorithms can also be executed at the PC level. The PC also provides graphic capability for the monitoring of the performance of the control loop and can also provide data historian capability, which can be very important for polymer process development.
