Frequently inspect electrical systems to insure the path to ground is continuous. [Pg.198]

Frequently inspect electrical systems to insure the path to ground is continuous. Continually audit extension cords at your jobsite. Take any cords that are not Hard or Extra Hard... [Pg.199]

When working in damp locations, inspecting electrical cords and equipment carefully to avoid shocks and always making use of the ground-fault circuit interrupter (Figure 6-3)... [Pg.69]

Implementation of the MID application in series production necessitated the development of a fully automated assembly solution by a manufacturer of special-purpose machines. The 3D placement of the SMDs, the switch elements, and the contact pins is only one of the functions discharged by the system. Others include incoming-goods inspection, electrical testing of the conductor tracks, dispensing the solder paste with optical process monitoring, and final inspection. [116]... [Pg.292]

There are no specific requirements for inspecting electrical equipment. Just the proper installation and maintenance of electrical equipment should keep them in the proper shape to prevent hazards to employees. The following references to inspection imply that inspections should be done. [Pg.487]

Maximum gap between the eddy-current converter and the expected surface- 10mm Inspected surface electrical conductivity- 0.5-r60MS/m. [Pg.343]

When heat-electric generating station turbine rotors are under operation there is a probability of forming surface cracks in axial canal and heat grooves. Evolution of the above defects can cause a serious crash. Therefore, in accordance with safety standards periodic inspection of the rotor component parts is required. [Pg.346]

Besides large-diameter pipes, ultrasonic testing is used for checking the welded joints of drill bits, components of wind-driven electric plants, welded joints of light alloys and non-metallic materials, for an integrated inspection of various objects. A range of training aids developed at the Institute allows the operators to be trained effectively. [Pg.969]

Electronic Connectors. The complexity and size of many electronic systems necessitate constmction from relatively small building blocks which ate then assembled with connectors. An electronic connector is a separable electrical connector used in telecommunications apparatus, computers, and in signal transmission and current transmission <5 A. Separable connectors ate favored over permanent or hard-wired connections because the former facilitate the manufacture of electronic systems also, connectors permit assemblies to be easily demounted and reconnected when inspection, replacement, or addition of new parts is called for. [Pg.23]

Maintenance and Reliability Preventive maintenance requires that all engines be shut down at periodic intervals for inspection and repair. For properly maintained heavy-duty engines availability is over 97 percent, with maintenance costs of 2.50 to 5 per horse-power-year and lubricating-oil consumption of 1 to 2 gal/hp-year. While this represents a high degree of reliability, outages of heavy-duty engines are more frequent than those of electric motors or steam turbines. [Pg.2493]

Inspection of electrical wiring if there is any (such as for space heaters, cold or hot air blowing, enclosure pressurizing or any other protective circuit)... [Pg.953]

Magnesium anodes are usually built into the object to be protected through isolating sockets or holes (see Fig. 20-6) and joined to them with cables. They must be readily accessible and easily exchangeable for convenient control [4]. The directions for use have to indicate the necessity for an inspection after 2 years of operation. During operation, control can be exercised by electrical measurements (current, resistance). In addition, acoustic and optical methods exist to determine the amount of anode consumption [4]. The life of the anodes is usually more than 5 years (see Section 6.6). [Pg.451]

The operational test of the lube system is, as the name implies, a functional test to check as many of the features as practical under running conditions. The first and last step is a demonstration of the cleanliness of the system. This is followed by a running test of a four-hour duration. The test should simulate the field operation with the compressor in every way practical. All equipment to be furnished with the lube system should be used in the test, including the standby pump start and trip switches. All other instruments should be used to demonstrate their operation. Prior to starting the four-hour run, the system should be thoroughly inspected for leaks and the leaks corrected. If no steam is available for a steam turbine (if one is used), the four-hour run can be made on the electric pump. However, every effort should be made to use an alternate source of energy such as compressed air, to operate the steam turbine. [Pg.415]

Electrical equipment Regular inspection and maintenance by qualified electricians Prohibition of makeshift installations... [Pg.196]

Consider need for high/low temperature alarms for refrigerated storage these should be inspected and tested regularly. Consider need for mitigatory measures (fire, blast, fragment-resistant barricades/screens), electrical and electrostatic safeguards, personal protection, disposal etc. [Pg.243]

Before first use hoses to be inspected visually internally and externally and tested at proof pressure. Repeat at least annually and include check on electrical resistance. The resistance of the complete assembly should be not more than 15 ohms, unless the hose is intended to be non-conducting when resistance should be at least 25 000 ohms. Inspect hose daily when in use. Hoses used at monobuoys should also be hydraulically tested. [Pg.481]
