Inspections electrical equipment

There are no specific requirements for inspecting electrical equipment. Just the proper installation and maintenance of electrical equipment should keep them in the proper shape to prevent hazards to employees. The following references to inspection imply that inspections should be done. [Pg.487]

Electrical equipment Regular inspection and maintenance by qualified electricians Prohibition of makeshift installations... [Pg.196]

The accidental or unexpected sudden starting of electrical equipment can cause severe injuiy or death. Before ANY inspections or repairs are made (even on the so-called low-voltage circuits) the current should be turned off at the switch box and the switch padlocked in the OFF position. At tlie same time, the switch or controls of the macliine or other equipment being locked out of service should be securely tagged to show which equipment or circuits are being worked on. Lockouts and tagouts should be removed only by the individual(s) who installed them. [Pg.191]

Inspection Certificate - Based on requirements to comply with the lEE Regulations for the Electrical Equipment of Buildings... [Pg.158]

A maintenance program should document all tests, inspections, and faults cleared by a main and feeder circuit breaker. Lack of such a program will reduce the reliability of the electrical equipment.Molded case circuit breakers require no internal maintenance. They should be inspected for broken casing and loose connections after they operate to clear a fault and should be replaced after they have operated to clear two faults. Feeder circuit breakers, especially older circuit breakers, should be exercised (repeatedly opened and closed) whenever possible.f" Part of the initial commissioning of an electrical power system must include testing of the ground fault protection. ... [Pg.1484]

Ensure that the work area within the laboratory is safe and that any electrical equipment has been inspected recently. [Pg.6]

Check electrical equipment regularly for sparks or arcing. These conditions can trigger spontaneous combustion of flammable gases or cause dust explosions. To prevent electrical equipment from contributing to fires (1) Conduct regular inspections of insulation resistance and monitor the quality of insulation layers. (2) Inspect and correct naked wires and metal contacts to prevent short circuit. (3) Install explosion-proof seals or isolated lighting fixtures, switches and protective devices. [Pg.192]

An adequate maintenance program should also include a consideration of the auxiliary and safety equipment. Periodic inspections should be made of release diaphragms, safety equipment (fire-fighting equipment, gas detectors, alarm systems, flame detectors, respirators, etc.), ventilation systems, compressors, electrical equipment, etc. Detailed records should be kept of all inspections. These should show the condition of equipment, any malfunctions noted, and repairs made. All repairs should be inspected and approved by authorized personnel... [Pg.99]

At present, measures such as replace the general electrical equipment and damaged cables can be used to solve not use explosion-proof electric equipment and short circuit fault of the electric cable thoroughly. But now there is no way to completely solve the problem of electrical equipment lost its explosion-proof ability, and the most common method used in coalmine is intensive inspection. The types of electrical equipment that lost its explosion-proof ability showed in accident cases have been collected, and got 5 common types of electrical equipments/devices, these 5 types are electrical switches, miner s lamp, exploder, electric coal drill, junction box, and specific distribution is shown in Figure 2. From the figure, we can know electrical switches, miner s lamp and junction box are the 3 main types of equipments/devices that prone to lose its explosion-proof ability, accounted for about 76.93% in total. [Pg.734]

Much electrical equipment, although flameproof, will attain surface temperatures over 160 °C when in use and careful inspection of the certification of such equipment must be made before diethyl ether is handled in a plant not specifically built for the purpose. [Pg.395]

Pressure vessels, boilers and steam lines, fuel and gas lines, electrical equipments, and plant layout are inspected by Factory Inspectors from safety point of view. [Pg.23]

UL has six basic services it offers to manufacturers, inspection authorities, or government officials. These are product listing service, classification, service, component recognition service, certificate service, inspection service, and fact finding and research. UL s Electrical Department is in charge of evaluating individual plastics and other products using plastics as components. The Electrical Department evaluates consumer products such as TV sets, power tools, appliances, and industrial and commercial electrical equipment and components. [Pg.327]

Insulate all electrical equipment properly. Visually inspect all electrical cords monthly, especially in any laboratory where flooding can occur. Keep in mind that rubber-covered cords can be eroded by organic solvents and by ozone (produced by ultraviolet lamps). [Pg.113]

Portable Electrical Equipment in Hotels and Tourist Accommodation. In these publications the HSE recommends that a three-level system of inspection can give cost-effective maintenance of portable appliances. These are ... [Pg.39]

The standard format is again shown in Appendix 6 of the lET Regulations. The 3rd Amendment of the lET Regulations now also requires an inspection within any accessible roof spaces where electrical equipment is present in that roof space. [Pg.311]

Develop written schedules of inspections and maintenance of all electrical equipment. Operating room personnel should receive annual training on bloodborne pathogens and other safety issues. Implement policies and procedures for sharps injury reporting. OSHA requires an appropriate sharps safety plan that includes the evaluation and selection of safer sharps and needles. Operating... [Pg.293]

Visually inspect all electrical equipment prior to use. Any defects such as frayed cords, missing ground prongs, etc., should be corrected by taking the tool out-of-service. [Pg.198]

Electrical equipment noted in the program must be visually inspected before each da/s use. Any damaged or defective equipment must not be used by employees until repaired. [Pg.222]

Equipment in Use MSHA requires that companies keep records for inspection, testing and maintenance of personhoisting equipment, shafts, boilers, compressed air equipment, ventilation equipment, emergency escapeways and facilities, fire doors, smokers articles, hazardous conditions, methane, roof bolt torque, and electrical equipment. [Pg.77]

All electrical equipment capable of being locked out 1 Disconnects provided, identified, inspected and tested regularly... [Pg.502]

Rubber equipment should be visually inspected and gloves should have an air test done before use. Protective hats and climbing equipment should be worn. Safety lines should be used in emergency rescue situations. Metal or conductive ladders should not be used near energized lines or other electrical equipment. [Pg.443]

Inspection of electric equipment with exposed energized parts The employee is not holding conductive objects and remains outside the minimum approach distance established by the employer No. [Pg.795]
