Isolate/fraction

This was confirmed by an independent analytical method by Spath and Boschan, and by a synthesis of pellotine by Spath and Becke, starting from the benzyl ether of 2-hydroxy-3 4-dimethoxyacetophenone, which was converted by aminoacetal into the Schiff s base (V). This, on treatment with sulphuric acid (73 per cent.), followed by warm water, gave 8-hydroxy-6 7-dimethoxy-l-methyh 5oquinoline (VI), of which the methiodide, m.p. 188-189-5°, on reduction furnishes pellotine (IV). From dZ-pellotine so formed Spath and Kesztler, by a special process of fractionation, isolated 1-pellotine having — 15-2° (CHCI3), for which... [Pg.158]

The colorimetric procedure has been applied to each of the fractions isolated from the partition column. The response to the color test has allowed an accurate prediction of the general type of infrared spectra ultimately found. The color test has also been applied to fractions collected from the gas chromatograph. Of the major responses observed when the pyrethrum mixture is passed through the chromatograph, three of the components respond to the color test. At least two other pyrethrin-like compounds of long retention and small quantity also give the color test. No infrared data are available on these. [Pg.62]

Recently, water-soluble protein fractions, isolated from extracts of bone matrix, were incorporated into a collagen matrix and shown to induce bone (67,68) and cartilage formation both in vitro and in vivo (69,70). In the latter studies, in the absence of the collajgen delivery system, the proteins were incapable of inducing cartilage formation in vivo when implanted intramuscularly into mice. The success of this approach appears to depend on delivering the active agents at an effective dose over an extended time period. [Pg.239]

A second polysaccharide fraction (Sample 3) was isolated from the filtrates by concentration and following precipitation with ethanol (1 3). The yield and characteristics of the obtained polysaccharides (Samples 2 and 3) are given in Table 1. It is evident that the sum of the yields for Samples 2 and 3 is almost equal to the yield for Sample 1. The polyuronic content data are also well balanced. This fact indicates that the suggested method is suited for fractional isolation of the polysaccharides from the spent culture medium of H.annuus 1805 cell suspension. As can be seen from Table 1, the main part of the exopolysaccharide was in fraction I. [Pg.683]

Localized zones can be scraped from the plate, and the fractions isolated with the strong polar solvent (acetone or methanol) can be analyzed by TLC or HPLC. [Pg.253]

The major components have been identified tentatively as phenolic and fatty acids. At this time, seven phenolics have been identified in only four of the fractions. These are shown in Table III. A measure of the magnitude of the confidence level (cc) with a spectrum of standards is given. The first three entries are from the sunflower the last, from the Jerusalem artichoke. In all fractions isolated, both from the sunflower and the Jerusalem artichoke, a homologous series of fatty acids ranging from Cjo to Ci8 have been identified also by GC-MS. Even-chain, Cj6 to Cjs saturated and Cxs mono- and di-unsaturated, predominated. This is not surprising, since fatty acids are major constituents of plant... [Pg.104]

Most receptors (a notable exception being the steroid receptors that influence DNA transcription) are located on the cell surface, and purified cell membranes are thus an obvious choice of preparation. When a tissue is homogenized, however, any membrane fraction isolated may well contain membranes from intracellular organelles in addition to cell membranes from all the cell types present in the tissue. Thus, brain membranes will contain membranes not only from neurons but... [Pg.166]

Based on the above considerations, the mode of kinetic study carried over a wide range, is solely a means to express how the fraction, isolated by a certain method, changes quantitatibely in the reaction course. In other words these experimental results are expressed as an equation for convenience sake. And it may be considered as a practical means in applicable form. [Pg.314]

All samples were dialyzed against 75 mM potassium phosphate buffer (pH 7.4) prior to DSC. Protein concentrations were 0.5 mg/mL. The thermal denaturation transition temperature (Td) is defined as the temperature of the maximum in the excess heat absorption trace associated with the protein s endothermic denaturation transition. Essentially, at a fixed monomer feed composition and temperature such a dependence is of universal character irrespective of the way of molecular weight regulation, which could be performed by changing the concentration either of the initiator or the transfer agent. Just on this universal curve the points fall which characterize the composition and molecular weight of the fractions isolated from copolymers synthesized under different contents of initiator and transfer agent. [Pg.171]

Saponins are a family of glycosides (sugar derivatives) widely distributed in plants. Each saponin consists of a sugar moiety bound to a sapogenin (either a steroid or a triterpene). The immunostimulatory properties of the saponin fraction isolated from the bark of Quillaja (a tree) has been long recognized. Quil A (which consists of a mixture of related saponins) is used as an adjuvant in selected veterinary vaccines. However, its haemolytic potential precludes its use in human vaccines. Research efforts continue in an attempt to identify individual saponins (or derivatives thereof) that would make safe and effective adjuvants for use in human medicine. [Pg.415]
