The composition of industrial wastes varies depending on the industrial structure of a country or region. It consists of general rubbish, packaging, food wastes, acids, alkalis, oils, solvents, resins, paints, mine spoils and sludges. A proportion of the industrial waste is classified as hazardous waste because it contains materials that are presently or potentially hazardous to humans and other living organisms. [Pg.464]

The objective of this study was to generate a simple, editable, SSF black-box model template which could predict ethanol and glycerol production based on initial food waste conditions. With increased datasets and more advanced mathematical functions, these models and their predictive ability will continue to improve. The choice of the most appropriate technology and process set-up is mainly dependent upon the substrates to be treated. Municipal biowaste includes two distinct fractions green waste from gardens and parks, and food waste from residential and commercial sources. These fractions have a different composition and structure. Green waste has a high structure and total solids (TS) content with a high lignocellulosic and fibrous component.
