Fiberglass tape

All bulbs and wide diameter vessels should be shielded in wire gauze cages, wrapped in cheesecloth, or covered with adhesive fiberglass tape. [Pg.114]

Fiberglass Tape Packing and Glass Roving Filler. To fill the space between the conductor and the top of spacer teeth, layers of fiberglass tape were used. They are Carolina Narrow Fabric Company Type 15106-2, 1.9 cm wide and 0.25 mm thick, and Type 4536-1, 1.9 cm wide and 0.076 mm thick. [Pg.393]

Other convenience adhesives used during assembly were Hysol Epoxy Patch Kit No. 608, a clear quick-setting adhesive taking about 4 min to set up, and No. 309, a filled paste taking about 9 min to set up. These were used to join the end of one roll of fiberglass tape to the start of the next roll and to hold down the ends of these tapes. [Pg.395]

Note that glazing is acrylic plastic to comply with the AMC Safety Manual requirements. Screws for attachment of wood door frames and vision panel stops are countersunk and caulked. Joints not taped are sealed with caulking. It should be noted here that Sunflower AAP has had major problems with exterior wood doors exposed to the weather. A recurring problem has been the delamination of wood door materials. This may require a change to a more weather-resistant door material such as fiberglass reinforced plastic. Details for doors of this material are included in the standard architectural details. [Pg.73]

Test equipment for this series of tests is shown in Figure 3. A 55 gallon drum was modified by the addition of a steel plate halfway down the drum. The plate was pierced by a valve and by a tap to allow pumping of liquids out of the reservoir. The steel plate was sealed with a silicone sealant around the perimeter of the plate. Contaminated soil and reagents were added to the drum by weight. The drum was then covered and a vent line attached between the drum and a carbon filter. A heat tape was wrapped around the drum, and the entire drum was insuiated with fiberglass. [Pg.295]

Mid-Arm Anthropometry. The arm muscle circumference (AMC), also called the mid upper arm muscle circumference (MUAMC), reflects both caloric adequacy and muscle mass and can serve as a general index of marasmic-type malnutrition. The arm circumference is measured at the midpoint of the left upper arm by a fiberglass flexible-type tape. The arm muscle circumference can be calculated from a formula that subtracts a factor related to the skinfold thickness (SFT) from the arm circumference ... [Pg.28]

While radiography can be very sensitive to volumetric features, it is not sensitive to planar defects such as delamination. Figure 15.19 shows a digital X-ray arrangement and radiograph of the CFRP panel from Figure 15.10. The 22-ply panel contains 20 phes of CFRP tape and one ply of fiberglass fabric on each side. The partial holes are clearly detectable, but the delamination is not. A penetrameter of 0.125 mm... [Pg.441]

Corporation (Golden, CO). The reactor, 1.22m wide by 2.44 m, consisted of a fiberglass-reinforced plastic I-beam frame. A transparent fluoropolymer film, treated to accept adhesives, formed the front and back windows of the reactor. The film windows were attached to the reactor frame with foam tape coated on both sides with an acrylic adhesive. The catalyst, titanium dioxide (Degussa P25), was coated onto a structured, perforated polypropylene tubular packing commonly used in oil-water separators. The Ti02 was suspended in water as a slurry and sprayed onto the tubular supports with a new paint sprayer until the supports were opaque. Fluid modeling of airflow flnough the reactor showed that a 5.1 cm PVC manifold, located at the inlet and outlet of flie reactor, would provide an even flow distribution. Small (0.6 cm) holes, drilled into flie manifold at one inch intervals, provided the even flow distribution required for efficient contact of the contaminated air with the catalyst. [Pg.1561]

Dynamic mechanical properties of silane coatings were measured with a DuPont DMA-981 instrument. Specimens made of heat cleaned woven glass cloth tape from Columbia Fiberglass Mutual Industries, 0.5 wide and 0.01 thick... [Pg.141]

Fingerprint powder is commonly applied to a surface using a brush, which may have bristles that are synthetic (e.g., fiberglass filaments) or natural (e.g., squirrel or camel hair). A developed fingermark may be subsequently lifted, using adhesive tape or gelatin film, and the lift transported to the laboratory. [Pg.1676]

Rovings are essentially untwisted bundles of fiberglass strands wound up in parallel on cylindrically shaped packages. They are used in open lay-up moldings, woven fabrics, rods, and tubes. Woven rovings are used for open lay and press moldings. Yams [1] consist of twisted yam bundles. Weaver yarns are used for electrical and aircraft laminates, insulating tape, window shades, and filtration applications. Their major use is in printed circuit boards. Chopped strand serves as a reinforcement in a variety of markets. For example, it is used to... [Pg.134]

Mitsubishi Chemical manufactures a seismic retrofit material Replark and have formed a joint venture with Fiberite in the USA. Replark is a UD carbon fiber tape with low epoxy resin content with a fiberglass scrim backing to facilitate handling in the field. The application entails the preparation of the concrete, application of an epoxy primer, putty and resin, followed by the requisite number of layers of Replark tape and additional resin, to form a cured composite and finally, the application of a surface coat to improve the appearance. Fiberite use type 12k T300 or AS4C carbon fiber and the Replark is offered in areal weights from 175 300 gm . ... [Pg.1030]

Fiberglass-dermatitis therapy is solely symptomatic so that antihistamine drugs can be administered p.o. or corticosteroid low-power topical drugs can be applied, together with antibiotics in the case of bacterial overlapping (Lachapelle et al. 1992). Removal of fibers from the corneum can be attempted using the adhesive scotch tape or plumbers duct tape (Deeken 1978). [Pg.132]

Irritant contact dermatitis is caused by mechanical friction from headbands or wristbands in runners, helmets in football players, gloves and fiberglass in hockey players, and adhesive tape in basketball players (Bergfeld and Taylor 1985 Kantor and Bergfeld 1988). Irritation may also occur after application of medicaments, antiseptics, insect repellants, cosmetics, oily sunscreens, or leakage of cold-pack chemicals (Bergfeld and Taylor 1985 Kantor and Bergfeld 1988). [Pg.1078]

To separate the fibers from the debris, a device utilizing air currents was constructed from foam core and fiberglass screen. Fiberglass insect screening was stapled to the bottom of 0.48 cm-thick foam core frames that were 30.5 x 30.5 cm in size. Two such frames with screens were constructed and stacked, with one frame and screen on top of the other. A cylindrical piece of plastic, 40.6 cm in length and 20.3 cm in diameter and open on both ends, was fashioned from a plastic bag. This piece was secured to the top screen with duct tape so that the cylinder projected above the frame. The fiber and debris mix was placed in the plastic cylinder. Another piece of plastic, similar to that used to create the inner cylinder, was used to cover the cylinder and extend above it by 61 cm. This enclosure was... [Pg.170]
