Developers carriers

There is a current tendency to develop carriers on the basis of polypeptides and other polymeric carriers with rather simple structures. For instance, polylysines, polyhydrox-ymethyl-acrylamide and polylactic add material with variations in charge and molecular weight can be tailor-made and equipped with clustered recognition sites. The biocompatibility of such carrier systems with chronic dosing should, however, be more clearly established. [Pg.376]

It is necessary to note that some systems have entirely abandoned the use of a separate developer (carrier). These systems, known as monocomponent, operate as described previously, but they use either a magnetic toner or fusible developer... [Pg.82]

Living creatures maintain life and proliferate by biochemical reactions. Every characteristic that cells show is caused by a biochemical reaction, which is catalyzed by the proteins that function with specific counterparts. For this reason, the characteristics expressed by a specific protein change, and biochemical reactions in the cell can be controlled using this mechanism. These features have encouraged scientists to develop carriers for protein delivery. [Pg.507]

Several in vivo studies have demonstrated the potential of thiolated chitosans to improve the bioavaUabUity of therapeutic compounds. In particular, thiolated chitosans have been used to develop carrier matrices for oral, nasal, and buccal delivery systems. [Pg.106]

Imaging plates are exposed similar to radiographic films. They are read out by a LASER-scanner to a digital image without any developing process. After optical erasing of the virtual picture the same IP can be used cyclic up to more than 1000 times. The life time is limited by the mechanical stability of the IP s. An IP consists of a flexible polymer carrier which is coated with the sensitive layer. This layer is covered with a thin transparent protective foil. [Pg.468]

The efforts of the experts from Pivdenny have made it possible for Ukraine to become firmly established in the first three of space powers (after USA and Russia). More than 400 earth satellites developed in Pivdenny have been in space In recent years experts have developed the unique camer-rockets Zenith and Cyclone, capable of taking 4 and 14 tons into orbit, respectively. No other carrier-rockets of this type exist anywhere in the world, so they were selected for the international project Sea Start and Globalstar The NDT experts from Pivdenny have made a great contribution to these development, as practically all the parts and components of the carrier-rockets are subjected to thorough control. [Pg.970]

We will explore the effect of three parameters 2 -and < )> that is, the time delay between the pulses, the tuning or detuning of the carrier frequency from resonance with an excited-state vibrational transition and the relative phase of the two pulses. We follow closely the development of [22]. Using equation (Al.6.73). [Pg.238]

Figure Bl.22.4. Differential IR absorption spectra from a metal-oxide silicon field-effect transistor (MOSFET) as a fiinction of gate voltage (or inversion layer density, n, which is the parameter reported in the figure). Clear peaks are seen in these spectra for the 0-1, 0-2 and 0-3 inter-electric-field subband transitions that develop for charge carriers when confined to a narrow (<100 A) region near the oxide-semiconductor interface. The inset shows a schematic representation of the attenuated total reflection (ATR) arrangement used in these experiments. Flow injection analysis (FIA) was developed in the mid-1970s as a highly efficient technique for the automated analyses of samples. °> Unlike the centrifugal analyzer described earlier in this chapter, in which samples are simultaneously analyzed in batches of limited size, FIA allows for the rapid, sequential analysis of an unlimited number of samples. FIA is one member of a class of techniques called continuous-flow analyzers, in which samples are introduced sequentially at regular intervals into a liquid carrier stream that transports the samples to the detector. ... [Pg.649]

Ramsing and colleagues developed an FfA method for acid-base titrations using a carrier stream mixture of 2.0 X f0 M NaOH and the acid-base indicator bromthymol blue. Standard solutions of HCl were injected, and the following values of Af were measured from the resulting fiagrams. [Pg.663]

Additive packages have been developed which do an exceUent job of preventing IVD. The key to effective operation is to keep the valve wet so that the additive can prevent deposit buildup. Most packages include a combination of detergent/dispersant and a carrier oil or heavy solvent. If no carrier oil is present, then the fuel may evaporate off the valve too rapidly for the package to be effective. When the valves do not rotate, the portion of the valve which has the highest deposit level is the back side which is not constantly wet. [Pg.187]

A considerable amount of carbon is formed in the reactor in an arc process, but this can be gready reduced by using an auxiUary gas as a heat carrier. Hydrogen is a most suitable vehicle because of its abiUty to dissociate into very mobile reactive atoms. This type of processing is referred to as a plasma process and it has been developed to industrial scale, eg, the Hoechst WLP process. A very important feature of a plasma process is its abiUty to produce acetylene from heavy feedstocks (even from cmde oil), without the excessive carbon formation of a straight arc process. The speed of mixing plasma and feedstock is critical (6). [Pg.386]

PEI derivatives have proven to be effective carriers of cations in Hquid membrane systems (404). This technology led to the development of ion-exchange resins (405), which are also suitable for extracting uranium from seawater (406). [Pg.13]

Medicine. There are many appHcations of PEI in the medical sector. Analytical methods, such as the quantitative deterrnination of the surface charge of semm Hpoproteins (442), are aided by use of PEI, and it is also used as a carrier in the development of polymer dmgs (443,444). [Pg.13]

Sprays are the most common means of insecticide appHcation and generally involve the use of water as the principal carrier, although volatile oils sometimes are used. With the older inorganic insecticides, suspensions in water were used at dilutions of 0.1 ndash 0.2%. The development of the more effective organic insecticides has allowed the widespread use of concentrate sprays in which the toxicant is contained at 10 ndash 98% and the amount of carrier to be appHed is enormously reduced. The use of concentrate or ultralow volume sprays has brought about a revolution in spray equipment away... [Pg.301]

However, optical fiber communications are not useful only for long-distance communication links. Fiber-optic data links are also used in a variety of short-distance systems, for example in computer—computer links and for internal communications on ships and aircraft. Figure 16 shows some possible appHcations for fiber-optic communications, with respect to length and bit rate. The common carrier appHcations, like telephone links. He to the upper right of the dashed line labeled 100 MHzkm. However, a wide variety of other lower performance appHcations, illustrated to the lower left of the dashed line, are in use or under development. [Pg.16]

Liquid Membranes. A number of reviews summarize the considerable research effort ia the 1970s and 1980s on Hquid membranes containing carriers to faciUtate selective transport of gases or ions (58,59). Although stiU being explored ia a number of laboratories, the mote recent development of much mote selective conventional polymer membranes has diminished interest ia processes using Hquid membranes. [Pg.70]

Mercury amalgamates readily with gold and silver, and systems have been developed using these metals distributed on various carriers to remove mercury vapor from an akstream. When the system is saturated, the mercury can be removed easily and recovered by heating the unit and condensing the mercury. Other metals, such as copper and 2inc, can also be used. [Pg.117]

Electronic-Grade MMCs. Metal-matrix composites can be tailored to have optimal thermal and physical properties to meet requirements of electronic packaging systems, eg, cotes, substrates, carriers, and housings. A controUed thermal expansion space tmss, ie, one having a high precision dimensional tolerance in space environment, was developed from a carbon fiber (pitch-based)/Al composite. Continuous boron fiber-reinforced aluminum composites made by diffusion bonding have been used as heat sinks in chip carrier multilayer boards. [Pg.204]
