Data processing detectors

The first of them to determine the LMA quantitatively and the second - the LF qualitatively Of course, limit of sensitivity of the LF channel depends on the rope type and on its state very close because the LF are detected by signal pulses exceeding over a noise level. The level is less for new ropes (especially for the locked coil ropes) than for multi-strand ropes used (especially for the ropes corroded). Even if a skilled and experienced operator interprets a record, this cannot exclude possible errors completely because of the evaluation subjectivity. Moreover it takes a lot of time for the interpretation. Some of flaw detector producers understand the problem and are intended to develop new instruments using data processing by a computer [6]. [Pg.335]

Ethanol concentration in the fermentation broth is determined by using gas chromatography (HP 5890 series II with HP Chemstation data processing software, Hewlett-Packard, Avondale, PA) with a Poropak Q Column, and a Hewlett-Packard model 3380A integrator. A flame ionisation detector (FID) is used to determine ethanol. The oven temperature is maintained at 180 °C, and the injector and detector temperature are maintained at 240 °C. The sample taken from the fermentation media has to be filtered and any internal standard must be added for analysis based on internal standard methods otherwise, the area under the peak must be compared with known standard samples for calculation based on external standard methods. [Pg.257]

Adjustable Workbench (PAW) instrument assembly. The SH shown in Figs. 3.15 and 3.16 contains the electromechanical transducer (mounted in the center), the main and reference Co/Rh sources, multilayered radiation shields, detectors and their preamplifiers and main (linear) amplifiers, and a contact plate and sensor. The contact plate and contact sensor are used in conjunction with the IDD to apply a small preload when it places the SH holding it firmly against the target. The electronics board contains power supplies/conditioners, the dedicated CPU, different kinds of memory, firmware, and associated circuitry for instrument control and data processing. The SH of the miniaturized Mossbauer spectrometer MIMOS II has the dimensions (5 x 5.5 x 9.5) cm and weighs only ca. 400 g. Both 14.4 keV y-rays and 6.4 keV Fe X-rays are detected simultaneously by four Si-PIN diodes. The mass of the electronics board is about 90 g [36],... [Pg.55]

The basic SFC system comprises a mobile phase delivery system, an injector (as in HPLC), oven, restrictor, detector and a control/data system. In SFC the mobile phase is supplied to the LC pump where the pressure of the fluid is raised above the critical pressure. Pressure control is the primary variable in SFC. In SFC temperature is also important, but more as a supplementary parameter to pressure programming. Samples are introduced into the fluid stream via an LC injection valve and separated on a column placed in a GC oven thermostatted above the critical temperature of the mobile phase. A postcolumn restrictor ensures that the fluid is maintained above its critical pressure throughout the separation process. Detectors positioned either before or after the postcolumn restrictor monitor analytes eluting from the column. The key feature differentiating SFC from conventional techniques is the use of the significantly elevated pressure at the column outlet. This allows not only to use mobile phases that are either impossible or impractical under conventional LC and GC conditions but also to use more ordinary... [Pg.206]

The spectroscopy system uses a dispersive element and a detector which is either a charge-coupled device (CCD) or a diode array. A computer is required for instrument control and for intensive data processing. [Pg.52]

The basic components include a Nd YAG pulsed laser system which is coaxial with a He Ne pilot laser and visible light optical system. The latter system enables the analytical area of interest to be located. The TOF-MS has a flight path of 2m in length, with an ion detection system that includes an electron multiplier detector, a multichannel transient recorder, together with a computer acquisition and data processing system. [Pg.59]

Experimental Techniques. Chromatography was performed on a Varian model 5060 HPLC equipped with a RI-3 refractive index detector. A Vista Plus Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) data system was used consisting of a Vista 401 chromatography data system serially connected to an Apple II microcomputer. The Vista 401 performs data acquisition and allows data storage and automations capability while all SEC data processing is performed on the Apple II by means of user-interactive GPC software for automated, on-line calibration and polymer analysis. [Pg.77]

Neither the effect of the used instrumentation (the pumps, columns and detectors) nor the software applied for the data processing was evaluated from the point of view of accuracy of results. It is evident, that the worldwide standardization of both measurement and data processing are badly needed in SEC. At least the experimental conditions within the same laboratory should be kept constant. This may prove, however, difficult as the detectability of various samples differs substantially and the Cj/Vj is to be adjusted for each kind of sample. [Pg.476]

The essential components of the instrumentation are a solvent reservoir, a solvent delivery system (pump), sample injection system, packed columns, a detector(s), and a data processing system. [Pg.5]

Separation of components occurs as the analytes and mobile phase are pumped through the column. Eventually, each component elutes from the column as a narrow band or peak on the recorder. Detection of the eluting components is important, and this can be either selective or universal, depending upon the detector used. Tlte response of the detector to each component is displayed on a chart recorder or computer screen and is known as a chromatogram. To collect, store, and analyze chromatograms, computers, integrators, and other data processing equipment are frequently used. [Pg.665]
