G. The next NN cards supply the VLB data. NN equals the number of experimental points. Bach card has one set of data. FORMAT(8F10.2). [Pg.226]

H. The next cards provide estimates of the standard deviations of the experimental data. At least one card is needed with non-zero values. Units are the same as those of the VLE data. FORMAT(4f10.2,I2). ... [Pg.227]

The different internal and external file formats make it necessary to have programs which convert one format into another. One of the first conversion programs for chemical structure information was Babel (around 1992). It supports almost 50 data formats for input and output of chemical structure information [61]. CLIFF is another file format converter based on the CACTVS technology and which supports nearly the same number of file formats [29]. In contrast to Babel, the program is more comprehensive it is able to convert chemical reaction information, and can calculate missing atom coordinates [29]. [Pg.46]

Data formats based on the STAR file with their own dictionaries can further restrict the syntax of files to conform to their definition. [Pg.120]

The CIF file format was quickly and widely adopted by the scientific community for at least two reasons [165J it was, and still is, endorsed by the lUCr and submission of data to the journal Acta Ciystallographka, Section C in a form conforming to CI F assures faster processing and hence faster publication of accepted papers. The current CIF file dictionary defines about 1200 data names, but it is still unable to represent all the details of the crystallographic measurements of macromolecules. Thus, yet another STAR-based data format is needed. [Pg.123]

According to an elegant remark by Davies [5], "Modem scientific data handling is multitechnique, multisystem, and manufacturer-independent, with results being processed remotely from the measuring apparatus. Indeed, data exchange and storage are steps of the utmost importance in the data acquisition pathway. The simplest way to store data is to define some special format (i.e., collection of rules) of a flat file. Naturally, one cannot overestimate the importance of databases, which are the subject of Chapter 5 in this book. Below we discuss three simple, yet efficient, data formats. [Pg.209]

Scientific, and especially chemical, information is becoming increasingly available on the Internet. This has the advantage that the information is accessible to other users. Additionally, the data formats (HTML, PDF, GIF, etc.) that are used are restricted to the most important ones to provide standards that are readable worldwide. Unfortunately, however, much of the information on the Internet is not reviewed or verified by other organizations as is the case in the primary literature. Thus, the quality of the information is extremely variable. [Pg.270]

The CD-I (compact disk-interactive) is a low cost alternative to the CD-ROM for the entertainment industry. CD-I is a subset of the CD-ROM standard data format. It allows the digital storage of data, audio, and video information in a form that permits rapid interaction with a computer. CD-I is compatible to CD-ROM and to CD-AD 0 = 120 mm. The definition of the CD-I format is put down in the Green Book (Philips/Sony). [Pg.139]

System can communicate with other systems (e.g., Lotus, dBASE, ASCII, and DIF data formats Macintosh and IBM equipment). [Pg.271]

Spectrometers are designed to measure the absorption of electromagnetic radiation by a sample. Basically, a spectrometer consists of a source of radiation, a compartment containing the sfflnple through which the radiation passes, and a detector. The frequency of radiation is continuously varied, and its intensity at the detector is compar ed with that at the source. When the frequency is reached at which the sample absorbs radiation, the detector senses a decrease in intensity. The relation between frequency and absorption is plotted as a spectrum, which consists of a series of peaks at characteristic frequencies. Its interpretation can furnish structural information. Each type of spectroscopy developed independently of the others, and so the data format is different for each one. An NMR spectrum looks different from an IR spectrum, and both look different from a UV-VIS spectrum. [Pg.521]

There are two major data-type classifications time-domain and frequency-domain. Each of these can be further divided into steady state and dynamic data formats. In turn, each of these two formats can be further divided into single-channel and multi-channel. [Pg.683]

Software can be poorly designed data format specifications are perhaps incompatible, intermediate results are inaccessible, all data are lost if an input error is committed, or results and data are not transferable to other programs. The division into tasks (modules, menu positions) might reflect not human but computer logic, and the sequence of entries the user is forced to follow might include unnecessary or redundant steps. [Pg.172]

The SMAC data format is identical for all programs numbers are written with decimal points and are separated by commas the format can be imported into word-processing and spread-sheet programs under the. dat or the. txt option. [Pg.363]

XML will become more integral to the work of statistical programmers in the pharmaceutical industry as the standards, applications providers, and vendors make more use of this technology. Eventually you should expect the FDA to move away from SAS transport files to XML files as their standard data format for electronic data submission. [Pg.73]

However, there may be times when you need to read proprietary data formats into SAS that SAS 9 cannot handle directly. In that case, DBMS/Copy version 8 can convert the following list of proprietary data file formats ... [Pg.80]

Manually processing each chromatographic peak is not only time and labor intensive but difficult to reproduce. To overcome these problems and to provide a consistent data format that was independent of retention time, a number of data-processing subroutines were automated to produce a single representative cellular protein spectrum. [Pg.211]
