Cyanamides cyanamide

When calcium carbinde is made to react with nitrogen calcium cyanamide is produced which on acid hydrolysis yields cyanamide. Cyanamide on heating to 100°C yields dicyanamide which on heating above its Melting point yields melamine. [Pg.165]

Cyanamides - Cyanamides also represent a class of materials where reactive oligomers have been prepared. A representative example of the type of modification done to cyanamides to moderate the initial reaction to obtain linear soluble melt-processable oligomers 1s shown in Eq. 2. A bis(aryl sulfonyl cyanamide) was initially reacted with two moles of a bis (cyanamide) to yield an oligomeric mixture (ideally represented in Eq. 2 as a simple compound). These fire-resistant materials have shown promising properties as composite resin matrices (6). [Pg.4]

Hydrodiuril hydrochlorothiazide, hydroflumethiazide [ban, inn, usan] (Hydrenox Diucardin Saluron etc.) is a (thiazide) diuretic which can be used in antihypertensive therapy, commonly with other classes of diuretics, hydrogen cyanamide cyanamide. hydromorphine dihydromorphine. hydromorphone [ban, inn] (hydromorphone hydrochloride (usan) Dilaudid ) is one of the phenanthrene series, an OPIOID RECEPTOR agonist, which is an OPIOID ANALGESIC. It is used orally or by injection for the relief of moderate to severe pain, hydromorphone hydrochloride hydromorphone. [Pg.145]

Ammonia from Cyanamide.—Cyanamide is made by causing atmospheric nitrogen to directly unite with calcium carbide, as described in Martin s Industrial Chemistry, Vol. II. Ammonia is next made from the cyanamide by passing superheated steam over it, when the following change takes place... [Pg.57]

Aero Calcium Cyanamide. [Cyanamid Canada] Calcium cyanamide. [Pg.9]

The first reaction leads to the formation of sulfide ions and cyanamide. Cyanamide can be further decomposed to urea, and then to carbonate anions and ammonia, which are the final reaction products. The associated rate constants have been estimated. In basic solutions the overall rate of hydrolysis has the following form ... [Pg.182]

In practice, the ammonolysis is carried out in the presence of ammonium salts—preferably ammonium nitrate—and the comparatively stable guanidine nitrate is formed. Such a technique is employed to prevent the relatively active guanidine from combining with unreacted cyanamide to form melamine. The reaction is carried out by heating calcium cyanamide, cyanamide, or dicyandiamide with ammonia and ammonium nitrate for 2 hr at 160°C under autogenic pressure. During the course of the reaction, dicyandiamide is formed from cyanamide in the presence of ammonia and, in all probability, is the primary product. The monomeric reaction is... [Pg.417]

Dicyandiamide and Melamine from Cyanamide. Cyanamide solutions are stable when slightly acid and are polymerized when slightly alkaline. Thus, when cyanamide or dicyandiamide is heated in the presence of liquid ammonia, the triazine melamine is formed. [Pg.418]

By the hydrolysis of dialkyl cyanamides with dilute sulphuric acid this method gives pure secondary amines. The appropriate dialkyl cyanamide is prepared by treating sodium cyanamide (itself obtained in solution from... [Pg.413]

Into a 750 ml. round-bottomed flask furnished with a reflux condenser place a solution of 34 g. (18-5 ml.) of concentrated sulphuric acid in 100 ml, of water add 33 g. of di-n-butyl cyanamide and a few fragments of porous porcelain. Reflux gently for 6 hours. Cool the resulting homogeneous solution and pour in a cold solution of 52 g. of sodium hydroxide in 95 ml. of water down the side of the flask so that most of it settles at the bottom without mixing with the solution in the flask. Connect the flask with a condenser for downward distillation and shake it to mix the two layers the free amine separates. Heat the flask when the amine with some water distils continue the distillation until no amine separates from a test portion of the distillate. Estimate the weight of water in the distillate anp add about half this amount of potassium hydroxide in the form of sticks, so that it dissolves slowly. [Pg.419]

Also known as nitrolim and lime nitrogen. The fresh product contains approximately 55 per cent, of calcium cyanamide, 20 p>er cent, of lime, 12 per cent, of graphite and small amounts of other impurities. It should be protected from moisture when stored in order to prevent slow polymerisation to dicyano-diamide. [Pg.420]

The solubility of the carbonate in water containing carbon dioxide causes the formation of caves with stalagtites and stalagmites and is responsible for hardness in water. Other important compounds are the carbide, chloride, cyanamide, hypochlorite, nitrate, and sulfide. [Pg.48]

Another way in which academic chemists keep in touch with industry is through consulting. During the years I consulted at different times for Exxon, Chevron, Cyanamid, ENICHEM (Italy), and Pechiney-Kuhlman (Erance, when a friend, Lucien Sobel, was a research director). I enjoyed these contacts, because they kept me aware of current industrial developments and interests. At the same time, it was also rewarding to be able to suggest to my industrial friends new approaches and directions that on occasion were useful and resulted in practical applications. [Pg.252]

Condensation of 2-phenyl-4-amino-5-benzoylthiazole with cyanamide yields the pyrimidothiazole (Scheme 88) (133) (49) 2-imino-3-aryl-4-amino-5-carbethoxy-4-thiazolines condense similarly with alkyl isothiocyanates (276). [Pg.58]
