Steven Rose Well I think there are a lot of problems with that claim. There was a huge statistical error made in the original presentation of that, which I think has since been widely recognised. I take it that the likely story is that this chromosomal abnormality tends to produce a lower intelligence. And people with lower intelligence tend to do less well and be more likely to end up in criminal activities.

In practice, the Patriot Act and its successors, has circumvented the check and balance system. The Executive Branch has, for example, lowered the threshold of probable cause to the level of suspicion it has equated criminal activity with terrorist activity it has removed or delayed notice requirements for warrants it has required mandatory compliance on third parties for the production of information gathered secredy it has imposed a gag order upon notice and production of information it permits sharing of confidential personal information between investigative units and minimized the role of the judiciary. The overall effect is the Executive Branch and Justice Department are assuming power to define application of the Fourth Amendment. An additional result is the collection of a wide variety of highly personal and sensitive information on law-abiding individuals. 

Substance abuse as an illness remains a controversial topic in society. Some perceive substance abuse or dependence as a criminal activity or a character deficit and, moreover, believe that its treatment legitimizes or absolves abusers of responsibility for their actions. Recounts incidence of the use of the. 50 caliber sniper rifle in criminal activity. Some gun control opponents have said this heavy gun has never been used in crimes. While it apparently has, the number of incidents appears to be very small.

Suggests that gun control efforts or lawsuits that directly or indirectly target small arms manufacturers threaten the supply of weapons to the military. Many drugs of abuse make the individual feel excited, aroused, and strong. Others result in drowsiness and poor coordination. Coupled with these feelings, however, may be an impairment of cognitive functions such as judgment, perception, and attentiveness. When these effects are combined, the individual may make rash decisions and take risks that otherwise would not be undertaken, which can lead to motor vehicle accidents and criminal activities such as robbery and homicide. 

Chemicals are a part of everyday life and can be found all around us. Many common chemicals, when mixed improperly (intentionally or not), can have serious implications for those who come into contact with them or are in their vicinity. This book is designed to give the user the ablility to quickly identify what type of explosive or chemical weapon could possibly be the focus of an investigation and what types of chemicals might be involved. It cannot be used to help manufacture these items. It is merely a tool for law enforcement to use in the war on terrorism and other types of criminal activities.
