Mixing, improper

Precautions should be taken to avoid flashbacks. Flashbacks result from improperly mixed fuel and air, such as when the flow regulators on the instrument are improperly set or when air is drawn back through the drain line of the premix burner. Manuals supplied with the instruments when they are purchased give more detailed information on the subject of safety.

Mixing process Technical rubbers are blends of up to about 30 different compounds like natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, silicate and carbon-black fillers, and mobile components like oils and waxes. These components show a large variety of physical, chemical, and NMR properties. For this reason, we pay close attention to minimizing sources of error. Examples of common sources of error might be contamination or an improperly mixed buffer. In addition, one should remember that scientists are humans, and human error is always a possibility. 

Cyclopropane, an inflammable gas capable of explosion when improperly mixed with oxygen, is a general anesthetic that is rarely used.

The pipelines or equipment carrying water and cyanide solutions should be clearly identified by color coding or other means to prevent miscoimection and improper mixing. Procedures should be established for maintenance, inspection, and repair of tanks and equipment that contain or may have contained solutions of cyanide salts. Employees that conduct these activities should be well trained on these procedures.

Most monomers have a low tolerance to moisture and low temperatures hence, the substrate must be dry and in excess of 4°C (40°F). Improper mixing of the two (or more) components of the polymer has been a common source of problems in the field. Aggregates must be dry so as not to inhibit the polymerization reaction.
