Composition method

In a typical CC growth kinetics experiment, carefully prepared and well-characterized seed crystals are introduced to a thermo-stated crystallization cell containing solution at a preset supersaturation. The reactant solutions are prepared with appropriate stoichiometry matching that of the precipitating phase. To maintain the composition of the supersaturated solution at a constant value, both reactants (titrant solutions) are added at the rate sufficient to replace reactant ions that precipitated, and to bring the supersaturation of the resultant total volume to the value of the initial supersaturated solution. [Pg.152]

The technique was found particularly useful in growth and dissolution kinetics measurements for pure and impurity-contaminated systems, and for the investigation of simultaneous precipitation of two or more phases. [Pg.153]

There are four principal classes of printing ink, which vary considerably in physical appearance, composition, method of appHcation, and drying mechanism. These also fall into two general types of consistency or viscosity, paste and Hquid. The classes are letter press and Hthographic (Utho) inks, which are called paste inks, and flexographic (flexo) and rotogravure (gravure) inks, which are called Hquid inks (1). [Pg.247]

Since analytic second derivatives are available for MP2 calculations, numerical difference calculations of CCSD(T) energies are only required for a relatively small basis set. This type of basis set correction approximation is also available in Grow. It is not possible to use some composite methods which, like the G2 and G3 schemes,66 involve adding non-differentiable corrections to the estimated electronic energy. However, there are other recently developed composite methods which might be effectively employed to construct this type of interpolated PES.67... [Pg.434]

In the present work, a constant composition method has been used to investigate the growth of HAP from solutions of low supersaturation and in the presence of different background electrolytes. The influence of magnesium and strontium ions both on the rate of crystallization and upon the electrokinetic properties of the crystallite surfaces has also been investigated. [Pg.652]

A disadvantage of the conventional precipitation method in which the supersaturation was allowed to decrease during the reactions, was that different calcium phosphate phases could form and subsequently dissolve during the course of the reactions. In the present work, the constant composition method was used to investigate the influence of sodium chloride, potassium chloride, and potassium nitrate, as background electrolyte upon the rate of crystallization of HAP in solutions supersaturated only with respect to this phase. These experiments were made in solutions containing totaj... [Pg.654]

In this book, the experts who have developed and tested many of the currently used electronic structure procedures present an authoritative overview of the theoretical tools for the computation of thermochemical properties of atoms and molecules. The first two chapters describe the highly accurate, computationally expensive approaches that combine high-level calculations with sophisticated extrapolation schemes. In chapters 3 and 4, the widely used G3 and CBS families of composite methods are discussed. The applications of the electron propagator theory to the estimation of energy changes that accompany electron detachment and attachment processes follow in chapter 5. The next two sections of the book focus on practical applications of the aforedescribed... [Pg.266]

Part ICl contains an expert report on the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biological documentation. Topics presented include composition, method of preparation, control of starting materials, control tests on intermediate products, control tests on hnished product, stability, and information on the pharmaceutical expert. An example is given in Exhibit 8.5. [Pg.258]

Part II Part II is the report concerning chemical, pharmaceutical, and biological documentation. The report details the composition, method of development of formulation, manufacturing processes under GMP, analytical test procedures, bioavailability, and bioequivalence. It should be noted that all analytical test procedures need to be validated, and the validation studies must be provided. [Pg.258]

The receptor relevance of BCUT descriptors has inspired several groups to apply them in conjunction with other methods. Beno and Mason reported the use of simulated annealing to optimize library design using BCUT chemistry space and four-point pharmacophores concurrently (33) and the use of chemistry spaces in conjunction with property profiles (52). The application of such composite methods to target class library design is readily apparent. Pirard and Pickett reported the application of the chemometric method, partial least squares discriminant analysis, with BCUT descriptors to successfully classify ATP-site-directed kinase inhibitors active against five different protein kinases... [Pg.368]

There was previously a separate ISO standard for adhesion in shear but this was withdrawn in favour of extending the standard for shear modulus to allow the test to be continued to the failure point, i.e. the two methods have been combined. The composite method is contained in ISO 182715 and uses the same quadruple element test piece as did the separate adhesion standard. The double sandwich construction is intended to provide a very stiff test piece which will remain in alignment under high stresses. The present standard quadruple test piece uses rubber elements 4 1 mm thick and 20 5 mm long and these tolerances are much less tight than previously. The measured adhesion strength in shear is less affected by the test piece shape factor then tension tests8 and the wider tolerances should be perfectly satisfactory. The test piece is strained at a rate of 50 mm/min, in line with the speed for most other adhesion to metal tests, and the result expressed as the maximum force divided by the total bonded area of one of the double sandwiches. The British equivalent BS 903 Part A 1416 is identical. [Pg.367]

One of the main assets of the time-dependent theory is the possibility of treating some degrees of freedom quantum mechanically and others classically. Such composite methods necessarily lead to time-dependent Hamiltonians which obviously exclude time-independent approaches. We briefly outline three approximations that are frequently used in molecular dynamics studies. To be consistent with the previous sections we consider the collinear triatomic molecule ABC with Jacobi coordinates R and r. [Pg.86]

It has long been a computational chemist s goal to have a method at his disposal that would yield energetic values that have chemical accuracy, which translates to an uncertainty of 1 kcal mol-1, or about 4 kJ mol-1. Currently, high-level methods such as QCISD(T), CCSD(T), or MP6 with very large basis sets may be able to achieve this. However, such calculations are only possible for very small systems. To get around this difficulty, composite methods that would allow calculations on systems with a few non-hydrogen atoms have been proposed. [Pg.151]
