Automotive bushings

Natural rubber is also widely used in nontire applications which account for approximately 30% of the consumption of all rubber as an aggregate (including both natural and synthetic rubber). However, in the nontire sector, natural rubber was about 22% of total rubber consumption in 2012. Many times natural rubber is used as the sole base elastomer in compounds used in automotive bushings, motor mounts, vibration isolators, and dampers. On the other hand, NR is blended with SBR for compounds used in conveyor belts, welding hose covers, braided water hose, laboratory tubing, footwear knee boots, footwear microcellular compounds, footwear boot uppers, tank linings, and play balls. NR/BR blended compounds are used to make conveyor belt cover stocks, shoe soling, and so on. [Pg.43]

Medical uses for Udel resin include surgical trays, nebulizers, flow controllers for blood, and respiration regulators. Transportation applications center around automotive fuse housings, electrical connectors, and switches. Electrical and electronic end uses include coil bobbins, housings, connectors, bushings, capacitor film, and business machine parts. EinaHy, water, heater dip tubes, milking machine parts, pollution control equipment, and some filtration membranes are made. [Pg.272]

Sealing electrical bushings and terminals. Used instead of silicone oils in vacuum pumps. May have been added to automotive transmission oils to swell shrunken transmission seals in place. Ingredient in emulsifiable-type cuttings oils to increase heat resistance (Monsanto, 1960). [Pg.909]

Provides antiozonant and antioxidant properties with high temperature, fatigue and flex resistance to rubber compounds. Used in pneumatic tire components, solid tires, belts, hoses, cables, automotive mounts, bushings and general mechanical products that are exposed to continuous and intermittent dynamic operating conditions that require protection from ozonation. [Pg.42]

Use Injection-molded and extruded parts, door handles, bushings, other mechanical items underground pipe automotive parts. [Pg.375]

Use Antivibration components, transmission seals, hoses, bushings, automotive weatherstrip, solid tires, storage tanks, and bridge bearing pads. [Pg.1239]

Another dynamic seal type used is the poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) seal utilized on applications with PV values that are not as stringent as those of clutch systems. PTFE is a fluoropolymer that has many other applications besides automotive. DuPont has the trade name Teflon for this material. Other usages include nonstick cookware, lubricants, bearings, bushings, gears, and plumbing materials. It is useful as a resistant material to corrosive and reactive chemicals. It is an extremely nonreactive material that was discovered by accident by Roy Plunkett when he... [Pg.90]
