Bushings and bearings

Most P/M parts weigh <2.27 kg (5 lbs), although parts weighing as much as 15.89 kg can be fabricated in conventional P/M equipment. Many early P/M parts such as bushings and bearings were very simple shapes, in contrast to the complex contours and multiple levels often produced economically in the 1990s. The P/M process is not shape-sensitive and normally does not requke draft. Parts such as cams, gears, sprockets, and levers are economically produced. [Pg.179]

Aluminum bron2e alloys containing 8—9% A1 are widely used for bushings and bearings in light or high speed appHcations. Alloys containing 11%... [Pg.244]

In jet engines they are used as wear pads and strips, thrust washers, bushings and bearings to save weight and take advantage of wear resistance and low thermal expansion. [Pg.245]

Pick-and-place units fed by vibrating-bowl feeder units can be utilized to insert various bushings and bearings into punched holes in rollformed parts. [Pg.452]

PA 12 (30-50%) High precision applications, e.g., fan blades, rigid dimensional stability applications, bushes and bearings... [Pg.25]

Alignment (particularly angular) of bushes and bearings is better and extreme accuracy is easier to achieve. [Pg.32]

As in Case 1, interference fits are usually used to mount bearings on a shaft and to retain both bushes and bearings in a housing. This implies a level of capital expenditure on grinding equipment and presses, yet does not avoid component stressing and distortion. In contrast, use of an adhesive allows stress-free. [Pg.74]

Fibre-bonded plastics used as separators in bushes and bearings immersed in seawater can assist in reduction of fatigue failure incidence. [Pg.330]

Machine tool builders have traditionally utilized a number of press-fit designs for incorporating studs, bushings, and bearings. Designs of this type require very close tolerances and expensive machining. [Pg.158]

The thermoplastic rubbers have properties similar to those of the cast polyurethane rubbers but, because of the absence of covalent cross-links, have rather higher values for compression set, a common problem with thermoplastic rubbers. Their main uses are for seals, bushes, convoluted bellows and bearings. [Pg.790]

Ephedra. Ephedras are leafless bushes that grow in deserts throughout the world. They are related to pine trees and bear tiny cones. Several species contain the drug ephedrine, a stimulant and a remedy for asthma. American ephedra, found throughout the western United States, is known as Mormon tea because early... [Pg.54]

Figs are deciduous, subtropical trees or bushes that grow 10-30 tall and bear fruit on 1- and 2-year-old wood. They are hardy in Zones 8-10. [Pg.97]

VulkoIIan . [Bayer Miles] Water-crosslinked polyurethane elastomer for pun diaphragms, coupling elements, solid dres, rollers, pump housings, seals, wipers, bush and split sections ftK antifriction bearings and flexible couplings. [Pg.403]

The HST treadbrake support bushes are mounted on the bogie at a greater distance from the track than the railcar and APT bushes, and, therefore, the volume of abrasive dust entering the bearings was much reduced. The wear rates calculated from these three service applications are therefore in line with the severity of the bearing environment and, in particular, the amount of abrasive airborne dust entering the bearing. [Pg.326]

PA/ABS. It has high temperature warp resistance, chemical resistance, good processability, and superior appearance. It can be applied in automotive parts such as body panels, under-the-hood connectors and components, fuel tanks, bearings, bushings, and cams. [Pg.516]

Closely related to the polyether-ester thermoplastic elastomers are thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers, which consist of polyurethane or urethane terminated polyurea hard blocks, with Tg above normal ambient temperature, separated by soft blocks of polyol, which in the mass are rubbery in nature (see Section 4.11 for more details). The main uses of thermoplastic rubbers (e.g., Estane by Goodrich) are for seals, bushes, convoluted bellows, and bearings. [Pg.417]

Uses of nylon bearings include bushes in domestic appliances bushes, thread guides, rollers and slides in textile machinery ball joints and bearings in suspension and steering systems in cars. [Pg.227]
