Dynamic seal

Lubricity. In any mechanical seal design, there is rubbing motion between the dynamic seal faces. This rubbing motion is often lubricated by the fluid being pumped. Most seal mauufac turers hmit the speed of their seals to 90 ft/sec (30 m/sec). This is primarily due to centrifugal forces acting on the seal, which tends to restrict the seal s axial flexibihty. [Pg.940]

Hydride Compressors using reversible metal hydride alloys offer an economical alternative to traditional mechanical compressors for GH2. The simplicity and passive operation of the hydride compression process offers many advantages over mechanical compressors. Hydride compressors are compact, silent, do not have dynamic seals, require very little maintenance, and can operate unattended for long periods. However, they are a very new and may be difficult to be built at the scale required for GH2 transmission pipeline service. [Pg.370]

The dynamic seals for reciprocating plungers and pistons, as well as rotating shafts, require all the capabilities of modem material developments high performance plastics, bronzes,... [Pg.142]

The dynamic seal is a reverse extruder created by machining small multiple-screw channels onto the rotor end rotating in the closed housing. Because of the helix angle, they will pump melt back into the mixing chamber. [Pg.558]

Perfluoroelastomers (FFKM), such as KALREZ, are particularly suited for extreme service conditions. They are resistant to more than 1,500 chemical substances, including ethers, ketones, esters, aromatic and chlorinated solvents, oxidizers, oils, fuels, acids, and alkali and are capable of service at temperatures up to 316°C (600°F).55 Because of the retention of resilience, low compression set, and good creep resistance, they perform extremely well as static or dynamic seals under conditions where other materials, such as metals, FKM, PIPE and other elastomers, fail. Parts from FFKM have very low outgassing characteristics and can be made from formulations, which comply with FDA regulations.56 Primary areas of application of perfluoroelastomers are paint and coating operations, oil and gas recovery,... [Pg.112]

The present essential aspect for the decision in favour of a Diaphragm Pump is its hermetical tightness, which is guaranteed by its stationary and therefore free of wear clamping area. The Diaphragm Pump is the only type of reciprocating pump where the dynamic sealing is not in contact with the fluid. [Pg.593]

The dynamic seal for a control valve suddenly starts leaking toluene-2, 4-diisocynate (TDl) vapor at a rate of 40 cinMi into a 12 ft x 12 ft x 8 ft room. The air in the room is miiformly mixed by a ceiling fan. The background TDI vapor concentration is 1.0 ppb. Air temperature and pressure are 77°F and 1 atm, respectively. Calculate Uie ppm value of leaking TDI vapor if its vapor pressure is 35 nun Hg at 25°C. Also, calculate tlie number of minutes after tlie leak starts UkU a person sleeping on Uie job would be at risk of being exposed to TDI vapor witli respect to tlie STEL, Ya LEL (lower exposure limit), and TLV. [Pg.454]

The elastomeric sealing components of the metering valve are particularly critical. In those valves used with CFC propellants, the elastomeric seals have typically been formed from an acrylonitrile/butadiene rubber, which has been cured with sulfur. These rubber seals may not be fully compatible with HFA propellants hence, alternative elastomeric materials have been used. These materials include peroxide-cured acrylonitrile/ butadiene, ethylene-propylene diene monomer (EPDM), and chloroprene and thermoplastic elastomers (TPE). The elastomeric materials used to form the dynamic seals around the stem and the static gasket seal between the can and valve may differ based on the required properties of the rubber for the specific function of the seal. The most important characteristics of the elastomeric seals... [Pg.2275]
