Water applications

Paraffin wax vapor barriers are used in water rinse removers that can disperse the wax without coating the substrate. In soak tank applications, water is sometimes doated on top of an ad-solvent, neutral pH, nonwater rinse remover to prevent evaporation. Flotation devices that cover the exposed surface area may be used with other formulas. [Pg.551]

Two classes of resol are generally distinguished, water-soluble resins prepared using caustic soda as catalyst, and spirit-soluble resins which are catalysed by addition of ammonia. The water-soluble resins are usually only partially dehydrated during manufacture to give an aqueous resin solution with a solids content of about 70%. The solution viscosity can critically affect the success in a given application. Water-soluble resols are used mainly for mechanical grade paper and cloth laminates and in decorative laminates. [Pg.645]

The pump selected for this application (water boiling at 0.98 psia) must have a required NPSH less than 4.7 ft, preferably about 3 to 3.5 ft. This is a difficult condition. If possible the vessel should be elevated to make more head (S) available, which wll raise the available NPSH. [Pg.191]

One good example are ice-water slurry storages, which are widespread in cooling applications. Water is cheap and easy to handle. Today, it is state of the art to produce ice-water slurries that can be stored and pumped to a demand when needed. [Pg.295]

In some applications water-gas-shift (WGS) is coupled with other reactions. For example, the steam reforming of methane to produce hydrogen is one example where both the forward and reverse reaction may be involved. However, this reaction is accomplished at high temperatures and the reaction is usually considered to be at equilibrium at the high temperatures used. In the following these high temperature processes will not be covered only those instances where the WGS reaction is the dominant reaction that is used to produce and/or purify hydrogen is considered. [Pg.120]

Although in many WGS applications cases conventional HTS catalysts are used, for some applications water-gas shift catalysts may be needed that operate at temperatures above the current industrial standard. Also, stability in a steam atmosphere, during regeneration of a SEWGS reactor, is an issue. [Pg.313]

A large body of literature exists investigating the mechanism of the Sandmayer reaction, and as early as 1942, ion-radical mechanisms were thought to be applicable (Waters 1942). Kochi (1957) furthered this mechanistic interpretation, and the current consensus keeps this opinion (Galli 1988b, Weaver et al. 2001). [Pg.262]

To iterate water vapour and air are pressurised by the compression stroke, partial electrolysis occurs, partial H2 ignition occurs, causing heat, which changes some of the vapour to steam, which elevates pressure, which increases temperature, which forms more steam, which continues to propagate in chain reaction during (perhaps the first 10% of) the power stroke. Is it true that s1r9 s HP output cannot be explained thus - especially in view of the unprecedented application water in a 4-stroke cycle ... [Pg.27]

For different applications, water-soluble neutral and ionic comonomers can be incorporated into or attached to the PNIPAM chain backbone to form amphiphilic PNIPAM copolymers via free-radical copolymerization. In this section, we will use the folding of neutral PNIPAM amphiphilic copolymer chains in extremely dilute solutions ( pg/mL) to illustrate a general feature of the folding of hydrophilically modified copolymer chains. [Pg.123]

Analogously, comparisons of plates coated by Ti02 or plates onto which a Ti02 aqueous suspension is flown showed a better efficiency for the suspension (128). Hence, the use of the suspension was recommended for a solar application water was treated during the day, the Ti02 slurry was allowed to settle at night, and the supernatant water was reused in the industrial process on the following day while another water batch was treated. [Pg.112]
