Aerosol is also a trade name for certain wetting agents, most of which are esters of sodium sulphosuccinic acid. 

Antlblaze 19. Antiblaze 19 (Mobil), a flame retardant for polyester fibers (134), is a nontoxic mixture of cycHc phosphonate esters. Antiblaze 19 is 100% active, whereas Antiblaze 19T is a 93% active, low viscosity formulation for textile use. Both are miscible with water and are compatible with wetting agents, thickeners, buffers, and most disperse dye formulations. Antiblaze 19 or 19T can be diffused into 100% polyester fabrics by the Thermosol process for disperse dyeing and printing. This requires heating at 170—220°C for 30—60 s. 

Other components in PVAc-formulations are defoamers, stabilizers, filler dispersants, preservatives, thickeners (hydroxyethylcellulose, carboxymethylcellu-lose), polyvinyl alcohols, starch, wetting agents, tackifiers, solvents (alcoholes, ketone, esters), flame retardants and others. 

There are some applications for a-sulfo fatty acid esters in the production and processing of synthetic materials or natural rubber. Emulsifiers are needed for the emulsion polymerization, antistatic agents improve the properties of polymers, and wetting agents are needed as parting components for elastomers.

The method developed for sodium fluoroacetate is based on collection of the sample with cellulose ester filters especially low in extractables (Toyo-cel cellulosic ester membrane filters from Nuclepore were used). Blasting expls were improved by incorporating a wetting agent, such as 2-naphthyloxy-acetlc acid laurylamide, 2-naphthylstearyl-amine, or Na benzenesulfonate. The wetting agent renders the water-sol components more readily wettable by the liq nitrate esters, which are also more effectively dispersed.

These are sulphonates with some atypical properties and are more complex in that they are polyfunctional, containing sulphonate, ester and, in the case of the half-ester, carboxylate groups. Sulphosuccinates are valued as very mild surfactants in personal care applications and, as the diester, also as highly effective oil-soluble wetting agents.
