A wide variety of plated plastics are known, such as acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and polyfcarbonate) (PC). ABS has been plated to provide decorative articles such as headlamp surrounds, and plumbing and marine hardware. PC has been utilized as the substrate for plated motor vehicle door handles. Robots are used to dispense adhesives and sealants throughout the automotive industry today. One-component urethane windshield adhesives are used almost exclusively in both the OEM and automotive aftermarket. In the early 1970s, K. Kordesch modified a 1961 Austin A-40 two-door, four-passenger sedan to an air-hydrogen fuel cell attery hybrid car (23).
