Vague malaise

Starting in the 1920s, very many different mixed bacterial vaccine products (including inactivated bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus. Streptococcus species. Streptococcus pneumoniae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, H. influenzae) were marketed worldwide. Currently, there are still several products available in European countries, and one product in the USA. Most vaccines have been used for treatment of recurrent and chronic infections of the respiratory tract. The efficacy of these products is doubtful. Delayed hypersensitivity to bacterial products is common. Delayed reactions, sometimes associated with vague malaise or myalgia, can occur after the administration of maintenance doses for months. If delayed skin reactions are accompanied by any systemic symptoms, administration of the mixed vaccine should be drastically reduced or stopped (87). [Pg.3569]

Lactic acidosis (buildup of lactic acid in the blood) may also occur with die administration of metformin. Although lactic acidosis is a rare adverse reaction, its occurrence is serious and can be fatal. Lactic acidosis occurs mainly in patients with kidney dysfunction. Symptoms of lactic acidosis include malaise (vague feeling of bodily discomfort), abdominal pain, rapid respirations, shortness of breath, and muscular pain. In some patients vitamin B12 levels are decreased. This can be reversed with vitamin B12 supplements or with discontinuation of the drug therapy. Because... [Pg.503]

Unless high-dose exposure produces immediate fatality, exposure typically results in abdominal pain, blood in the urine (hematuria), and jaundice. Signs and symptoms due to massive hemolysis occur anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours postexposure. Other potential symptoms include headache, a vague feeling of bodily discomfort (malaise), a feeling... [Pg.251]

Signs and Symptoms Disease is biphasic. Initial symptoms are flu-like and include fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, and a vague feeling of bodily discomfort (malaise). Initial phase does not appear to involve the central nervous system. However, 4-10 days after apparent recover, there is a return of fever with meningoencephalitis or symptoms resembling paralytic poliomyelitis. Convalescence may be prolonged. [Pg.554]

Signs and Symptoms Typically biphasic, the first phase consists of nonspecific flu-like symptoms that include fever, a vague feeling of bodily discomfort (malaise), anorexia, muscle pain (myalgia), headache, nausea, vomiting, low white blood cell count... [Pg.581]

Signs and Symptoms Initial onset may be either sudden or slow. Symptoms include fever, headache with pain behind the eyes, conjunctivitis, a vague feeling of bodily discomfort (malaise), severe joint pain (arthralgias), enlarged spleen, and pain in the bones of the shins, neck, and back. Shins are especially painful and tender. May produce a transient macular rash. Symptoms may continue to reappear years after the primary infection. [Pg.598]

Signs and Symptoms Symptoms in immunocompromised individuals may include fever, difficulty breathing (dyspnea), nonproductive cough, bloody sputum (hemoptysis), bloody nose (epistaxis), a vague feeling of bodily discomfort (malaise), pneumonia, weakness, chest pain, and anorexia. May progress to inflammation of the eyes (endophthalmitis), sensitivity to light (photophobia), and/or inflammation of the heart (endocarditis). May also cause abscesses in the heart, kidneys, liver, spleen, other soft tissue, or the bone. If the central nervous system becomes involved, can cause altered mental states and seizures. [Pg.606]

And similar comments can be made regarding the consistency of physical side-effects. There seemed to be a muscular tremor, and a vague body malaise, that is part of the trip. At least when the psyche got going, the body going got less noticeable. [Pg.115]

The initial symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis are vague. They can include fatigue, malaise, joint pain, swelling of joints and stiffness. Patients will complain of joint pain and a loss of function in the affected joints. Radiographs may show erosion of the joint and a loss of joint space. [Pg.254]

Vague abdominal discomfort, malaise to severe abdominal cramps, flatulence, bloody diarrhea (heme-positive in 100% of cases) with rnucus" "" ... [Pg.2070]
