It is incumbent upon the toller to develop and follow internal management systems as appropriate to support business needs, production needs, process safety, environmental responsibility, and worker health. The selection process should have considered whether or not satisfactory systems are in place. Nevertheless, the contract or auxiliary documents may be the vehicle used to help ensure that the system reviewed is the system actually used for completing the toll in question. Within the process safety management system, the management of change and training elements are essential subsystems. [Pg.62]

Institutionally, privatization replaced a unified vertical command structure with a complicated structure of some sixty independent businesses contracting with each other. She is licensed to treat many of the employees occupational injuries and illnesses using previously approved standard procedures. A referral relationship has been established by a contract with a local hospital that has an emergency room and a medical provider. Employees with illnesses or injuries that are assessed by the nurse practitioner as too severe to be treated onsite are transferred to the emergency room. Those employees who receive treatment by the nurse practitioner and do not respond to the treatment as expected are referred to the medical provider. Some of the topics and subject matter should be taken from the system safety analyses. The analyses identified hazards, their consequences, their controls, and the verification of the controls. This is very important information to pass on to the individuals who work close to these systems. The safety training must be a cogent part of the safety management systan.
