Storage area network

A storage-area network (SAN) is defined as a specialized, dedicated highspeed network whose primary purpose is the transfer of data between and among computer systems and storage elements. Fibre Chaimel is the de facto SAN standard network protocol, although other network standards, like iSCSI, could be used. SAN is a robust storage infrastructure, optimized for high performance and enterprise-wide scalability.

Each blade server has 24 cores and 64 GB of RAM. We recorded a mean packet rate around 2000 pps, with spikes from 10000 to 25000000 pps while the active power consumed is between 1550 and 1600 watts. The dataset created is composed by approximately 2.5 TB of pcap network traces and power consumption data, representing the behavior of the monitored servers from a network and power consumption point of view, during the period 31 July 2013 - 31 January 2014. 

This is an interconnected network of flattened or spherical vesicles and tubules found in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells. These structures are enveloped by a membrane that separates the endoplasmic reticulum cavities or cisternae. The cisternae constitute a network of channels that go through the cytoplasm and regulate the transport of various cell products, generally to the exterior environment. For a typical reader, the PDF files themselves are likely to have been downloaded and distributed over time across a number of computers and their hard drives. From there, they may migrate to network storage areas, memory sticks and mobile devices such as iPods etc. Aggregating, removing duplicates and organizing these according to their content is non-trivial, and may well require substantial investment of human fime and skills.

Once the need for a network has been determined, the locations of terminals, servers, and information storage equipment must be established. Local area networks (LANs) and the worldwide web (WWW, or Internet) can link access points located in adjacent rooms or halfway around the world. However, it is critical that the network uses consistent computer and data transmittal protocols in order to provide uninterrupted, information handling in an efficient manner. For example, serial communication via an RS-232 port is relatively common, but too slow for most machine applications. Ethernet communication via transmission control protocol/Internet protocol (TCP/IP) is a preferred method because most equipment suppliers offer this network option. The TCP/IP method allows computers to share resources, no matter whether the operating system is for an Apple , a version of the Microsoft operating system for PCs, or the UNIX operating system. Also, the Semiconductor Equipment Communication Standard (SECS)/Generic Equipment Model (GEM) is widely used as the interface between the host computer and assembly machines. 

Customer equipment now involves the developing field of office and business systems. These systems may be self-contained, form part of a local area network or be based on a private digital exchange. They incorporate a whole range of peripheral equipment which, apart from the main operating consoles or work stations, also involve specialised telephones, word processors, facsimile machines, visual display units and data storage facilities.
