Formulation CP7-0024 produces a cleaner-polish that is easy to apply and provides long lasting protection against water spotting and staining. [Pg.282]

Add Part C and then Part D and continue to mix until uniform. Formulation CP7-0024 [Pg.282]

In addition to thickening, Carbopol resins impart yield value allowing particles, such as abrasives, to become permanently suspended. The resin also prevents creaming or phase separation by suspending and separating the oil droplets. [Pg.119]

Brookfield Viscosity (RVT-20 rpm) 10,000 cps Product pH 8.50 Product Clarity Paste [Pg.119]

Add the silicone fluid, release coating, solvent, and lauric acid to a vessel. Mix using a high shear mixer. [Pg.119]

Disperse the Carbopol into the water (16.00 parts) by simply dumping it in. The polymer will wet out in a few minutes. Add the dispersion to the above mixture with good agitation. [Pg.119]

Cyanide is foimd in many common honsehold items, such as rat and pest poisons, silver and metal polishes, photographic solntions, and fumigating products (Rumack and Lovejoy, in Amdnr et al., 1991, p. 933). Sodium and potassium cyanide can be readily purchased as chemicals, and are nsed in bulk in gold mining and the attendant separation or pniification operations. [Pg.162]

Polishes encompass a broad spectrum of products, including furniture polishes, shoe polishes, floor waxes, and metal polishes. Many of these are water-based products, and cleanup entails washing with water that is poured down the drain. Toxic chemicals contained in these products and released as wastewater include chlorinated hydrocarbons, acrylates, surfactants, preservatives (including formaldehyde), glycol ethers, silver, and phthalates)32 ... [Pg.88]

Hydrogen q anide can be detoxified rapidly by humans. It is very volatile, and massive amounts of the gas are needed for it to be effective as a CWA. Cyanide is primarily an environmental contaminant of industrial processes. It is used in the metal-processing industry for electroplating, heat treating, and metal polishing, and it can be foxmd in wastewater from many mining operations that use cyanide compoimds in the extraction of metal, such as gold and silver, from ore. [Pg.652]

A metal polishing fluid of a similar composition that contained propane-1,2-diol, nitric acid, hydrogen fluoride and silver nitrate detonated thirty minutes after being used. [Pg.252]

A chemical polishing mixture was put into a closed glass bottle which burst 30 min later, and formation of silver fulminate was suggested. However, in absence of the silver salt such mixtures evolve gas and should not be stored in any event, especially after use for metal polishing, when the dissolved metal(s) tend to further destabilise the mixture. [Pg.1588]

To better understand the diffusion-limited school of thought mentioned above, it is worth digressing momentarily on another noble -metal electrode system silver on YSZ. Kleitz and co-workers conducted a series of studies of silver point-contact microelectrodes, made by solidifying small (200—2000 //m) silver droplets onto polished YSZ surfaces. Following in-situ fabrication, the impedance of these silver microelectrodes was measured as a function of T (600-800 °C), P02 (0.01-1.0 atm), and droplet radius. As an example. Figure 9a shows a Nyquist plot of the impedance under one set of conditions, which the authors resolve into two primary components, the largest (most resistive) occurring at very low frequency (0.01—0.1 Hz) and the second smaller component at moderately low frequency ( 10 Hz). [Pg.557]

NICKEL. [CAS 7440-02-0]. Chemical element, symbol Ni, at. no. 28. at. wt. 58.69, periodic table group 10, mp 1453rC, bp 2732°C. density 8.9 g/cm3 (solid, 20"C>. 9.04 g/cnr (angle crystal). Elemental nickel has a face-centered cubic crystal structure. Nickel is a silver-white metal, harder than iron, capable of taking a brilliant polish, malleable and ductile, magnetic below approximately 360°C. When compact, nickel is not oxidized on exposure to air at ordinary temperatures. The metal is soluble in HNO3 (dilute), but becomes passive in concentrated HNO3. The... [Pg.1070]

Many of the finishes applied to other types of metal products can also be applied to zinc die castings, although some differences in formulation as well as occasional differences in method of application may be desirable. The types of finishes applicable to zinc die castings include mechanical finishes (buffed, polished, brushed, and tumbled) electrodeposited finishes (copper, nickel, chromium, brass, silver, and black nickel) chemical finishes (chromale, phosphate, molybdate and black nickel) and organic finishes (enamel, lacquer, paint and varnish, and plastic finishes). Electrodeposited coatings of virtually any metal capable of electrodeposition can be applied to zinc die castings. [Pg.1776]

The purified metal is hard but malleable and ductile. Its silvery white appearance can be polished to a lustrous finish, and provides about l/4th of the American 5-cent piece. Its corrosion resistance makes it good for coinage. The ancient Chinese produced an alloy called Paktong by smelting ores containing copper, nickel, and zinc thatis now known as nickel silver and is the base for high-grade silver-plated ware. [Pg.254]

Iridium is a hard, brittle metal, which can be filed and which takes a polish. In appearance it lies between silver and tin it is not ductile, however, even at red Mat. Its specific heat is 0-0323,3 and its coefficient of linear expansion with rise of temperature (0-80° C.) is 0-000,007.4 The density of the native metal is 22-6 to 22-8.5 For the pure cast metal the value 22-42 has been found.6 It melts at 2290° C.7 and distils in the electric furnace, its boiling-point being approximately 2550° C. Its vapour, on cooling, is deposited as small crystals.8 Liquid iridium dissolves carbon, but liberates it, on cooling, in the form of graphite.9... [Pg.238]

Physical Properties.—Platinum is a silver-white metal, capable of taking a high polish. It is slightly harder than silver, however, and does not tarnish. It is both malleable and ductile, admitting of being beaten out into thin foil and drawn into fine wire. Addition of a small quantity of iridium increases the hardness of the metal, but decreases its ductility. [Pg.262]

Nickel is silver-white, with high electrical and thermal conductivities (both —15% of those of silver) and mp 1452°C, and it can be drawn, rolled, forged, and polished. It is quite resistant to attack by air or water at ordinary temperatures when compact and is therefore often electroplated as a protective coating. Because nickel reacts but slowly with fluorine, the metal and certain alloys (Monel) are used to handle F2 and other corrosive fluorides. It is also ferromagnetic, but not as much as iron. [Pg.837]
