Sheet coating

Vast amounts of continuously galvanised steel sheets are produced, and unless they are painted or otherwise coated, their life depends on the thickness of the galvanising and the service environment in which they are used. Similarly in the case of steel sheets coated with aluminium or aluminium-zinc alloys, their performance is dictated by their coating thickness (see Section 13.4). A problem often associated with such material is corrosion at the cut edges. From work carried out by BISRA and others it has been shown that providing the bare steel edge is less than 3 mm in width, the amount of corrosion is minimal and the life of the sheet is not adversely... 

Plastic products are made by a variety of basic manufacturing processes. As an example a major method such as extrusion has subdivisions that include profile, pipe, tube, film, sheet, coating, post forming, etc. equipment In injection molding there are subdivisions such as coinjection, gas assist, foam, inmold decorating, etc. equipment. There are literally hundreds of processes used with only about the dozen, as reviewed in this chapter, that are principally used (2).

The orientation of cellulosic fibers has some effect on the conductivity of the paper. The conductivity in the XY plane of the sheet (surface conductivity parallel to most of the fibers) may be quite different from the conductivity along the Z direction (bulk conductivity perpendicular to the fibers). Comparison of surface and bulk conductivity for a given paper sheet can thus yield information which reflects the anisostropy in the structural morphology due to fiber orientation. Bulk conductivity measurements are also important since many paper sheets used in reprographic processes are composed of a conductive base sheet coated with a dielectric material 16. One important specification for these types of papers is the value of the bulk conductivity of the base paper.

The activity was measured with a tubular reactor imder atmospheric pressure. The sheets coated with catalyst were cut into pieces of 0.2-0.3x2-3 cm. A bimdle of pieces with ca 0.3 g catalyst were put in the tube vertically.
