Plastic sheet

A fume hood is constructed in the manner shown in figure 6. Strike drew the frame as being made of lumber but it can be made of rebar or, preferably, from PVC pipes and joints so that it can be assembled and disassembled with ease. The frame is enclosed with plastic drop cloths or any semiclear plastic sheeting. The front face of the hood is halfway covered with plastic while the bottom half is exposed to allow one to move objects in or out and to manipulate things. On top of the chamber is attached some clothes dryer duct or some such crap which is led to a leaf blower or blower motor. The exhaust from the blower is led away to the outside.

Thermoforming. Thermoforming is the most common method of fabricating sheet into three-dimensional packaging. In conventional thermoforming, the sheet is heated to its softening point or just below the melting temperature. The softened plastic is forced by differential air pressure into an open-top mold to assume the shape of the female mold. The mold is chilled and the plastic sheet solidifies and is then removed from the mold. 

The mold is usually prepared with orifices to permit air trapped between the sheet and the mold to escape and ensure uniform, close contact of the plastic with the mold surface. By clamping the sheet beyond the perimeter of the piece, plastic may be drawn from the peripheral areas into the mold, ensuring uniformity. Both pressure and vacuum are employed to force the softened plastic sheet into the mold.

Plastic Sheet. Poly(methyl methacrylate) plastic sheet is manufactured in a wide variety of types, including cleat and colored transparent, cleat and colored translucent, and colored semiopaque. Various surface textures ate also produced. Additionally, grades with improved weatherabiUty (added uv absorbers), mat resistance, crazing resistance, impact resistance, and flame resistance ate available. Selected physical properties of poly(methyl methacrylate) sheet ate Hsted in Table 12 (102). 

Some propionic acid is converted iato herbicides (qv) such as Stam (Rohm and Haas) (3, 4 -dich1oropropionanilide) and iato ceUulose acetate propionate, a plastic sheeting and mol ding precursor. 

Once dried, the treated paper or cloth is fairly stable and, stored in a cool place, it may be kept for several weeks or months before pressing into laminated plastic sheets. 

The progress of the reaction may be followed by analytical thin-layer chromatography on alumina. The submitters used polygram pre-coated plastic sheets (Alox N/UV254) purchased from Macherey-Nagel, Inc. The plates were developed with 1 1 hexane-ether and stained with basic permanganate. The Rf of the product is 0.56.

See 2-3.1. Electrical conduction through solids takes place both through the bulk material and over the surface. In most cases surfaces have different physical and chemical properties than the bulk, for example due to contamination or moisture. Volume and surface resistivity can be separately measured for solid materials such as antistatic plastic sheet. Powders represent a special case since although both surface and bulk conduction occur, their contributions cannot be individually measured and the volume or bulk resistivity of a powder includes surface effects.
