This provision in the construction asbestos standard requires building and facility owners to notify tenants who will occupy building areas of the presence, location, and quantity of ACM and PACM in their spaces. This provision is triggered when any construction work, as defined by 1926.1101, is planned, per paragraph (k)(2)(i). The notification requirement is not limited to situations in which a disturbance of ACM or PACM will be taking place in the presence of the tenant. Tenants must be informed in advance in order to protect themselves from asbestos hazards, and so they may, in turn, inform any subtenants, housekeeping services, or other maintenance or construction employers that may be contracted by the tenants to perform work in the leased space where there is the potential for contact with ACM or PACM.

Typically, corrosion is more intense in its early stages (before protective coatings of corrosion products build up). Results obtained from short-term tests tend to overestimate corrosion rates which often results in an overly conservative design.

Through the cooperation of WNEP-TV16, serving the Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton area in Pennsylvania, measurements for radon concentration levels were made in 42 residential buildings in 34 towns in northern Pennsylvania. In an alternate site in Luzerne County Pennsylvania, we measured radon concentrations in 41 residential buildings in 22 towns. This request came from the Commission on Economic Opportunity, a non profit social service agency that winterized the homes of low income families.

In a mixed occupancy building it is wise to consider the design of separate ventilation systems for laboratory areas, areas servicing the public, animal holding areas, and administrative offices.
