Extremely hazardous

On Russia territory there are about 100 thousands of dangerous enterprises and objects, comprising about 1500 nuclear facilities and 3000 chemical and biological extremely hazardous objects. The average period of emergency situations is 10 — 15 years for accidents and disasters with the material loss up to 2 billion USDs, and 15 — 45 days, when the material loss is up to 100 million USDs.

OSHA has a TWA standaid on a weight of Sb basis of 0.5 mg/for antimony in addition to a standard TWA of 2.5 mg/m for fluoride. NIOSH has issued a criteria document on occupational exposure to inorganic fluorides. Antimony pentafluoride is considered by the EPA to be an extremely hazardous substance and releases of 0.45 kg or more reportable quantity (RQ) must be reported. Antimony triduoride is on the CERCLA bst and releasing of 450 kg or more RQ must be reported.

This reaction is the cause of a widely recognized laboratory hazard. The peroxides formed from several commonly used ethers, such as diethyl ether and tetrahydrofuran, are explosive. Appreciable amounts of such peroxides can build up in ether samples that have been exposed to the atmosphere. Because the hydroperoxides are less volatile than the ethers, they are concentrated by evaporation or distillation, and the concentrated peroxide solutions may explode. For this reason, extended storage of ethers that have been exposed to oxygen is extremely hazardous. 

Another analogous series of unsaturated hydrocarbons that contain just one multiple bond, but, instead of being a double bond, it is a triple bond is the alkynes. The names of all the compounds end in -yne. The only compound m this series that is at all common happens to be an extremely hazardous material. It is a highly unstable (to heat, shock, and pressure), highly flammable gas that is the first compound in the series. This two-carbon unsaturated hydrocarbon with a triple bond between its two carbon atoms is called ethyne, and indeed this is its proper name. It is, however, known by its common name, acetylene. 

The ketones are a group of compounds with the general formula R-C-R. The -C-functional group is known as the carbonyl group or carbonyl radical it appears in many different classes of hydrocarbon derivatives. There are only a few important ketones, and they are all extremely hazardous. 

Chemicals determined by the U.S.E.PA to be extremely hazardous to a community during an emergency spill or release as a result of their toxicibes and physical/chemical properties. 

Materials extremely hazardous to health but areas may be entered with extreme care. Full protective clothing, including self-contained breathing ap-pjaratus. coat, pants, gloves, boots, and bands around legs, arms and waist should be provided. No skin surface should be expxjsed. 

Poison A gas explosives-A/B, organic peroxide, flammable solid, materials dangerous when wet, chlorine, flourine, anhydrous ammonia, radioactive materials, NFPA 3 4 for any categories including SF>ecial hazards. Any substance on the Extremely Hazardous Substance List must be reported at the threshold planning quantity or 500 pounds, whichever is less, if it was present at your facility in 1990. It is important to note that the majority of substances found on the Extremely Hazardous Substance List/USDOT Hazardous Materials Table. It is recommended that you report them at any quantity, as discussed in Item 1.

A more eomplieated or dangerous site will require a more extensive orientation. A seasoned erew on a site where the hazards are eonsidered low would not require the same length orientation as a nonexperieneed erew at a site they had never seen or heard of Initial orientation on a large, eomplieated or extremely hazardous site may take several hours or... 

If the souree of eontamination is an extremely hazardous or dangerous material and the task at hand requires that workers eome in eontaet with this dangerous material, plan on extra time for deeontam-ination. On the other hand, if the hazardous material borders on nui-sanee levels, and ean easily and readily be removed, or workers use only disposable elothing, deeontamination should take mueh less time. 

Under this provision, facilities should notify the LEPC and consequently the SERC of any possible environmental release of specific chemicals. The specific chemicals referred to in SARA Title III are found on the Extremely Hazardous Substance List (40 CER 355) and the Reportable Quantity List (the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act [CERCLA] Section 103 [a]).

In approximate size, the Arsenal covers 6S00 acres. Its activities are conducted in over 1500 buildings which are serviced by 85 miles of roads and 31 miles of railroad. Within its boundaries are two artificial lakes, three widely separated test-firing ranges, and two remote areas for the extremely hazardous activities... 

All common amines present at least a moderate degree of skin and eye irritation. Most are corrosive. Also, CHA is toxic and is described as an extremely hazardous substance. 

Like many of the reactions in this book, this reaction is extremely hazardous. Don t try it.
