Mixed occupancies

In a mixed occupancy building it is wise to consider the design of separate ventilation systems for laboratory areas, areas servicing the public, animal holding areas, and administrative offices. [Pg.226]

The various chromium carbides are relatively hard and brittle. They significantly increase the hardness and pyrophoric stability of carbon rich hard materials. These compounds are known as Stellite . The hardness of alloyed steels [9] results from several chromium-iron double carbides of compositions (Fe, Cr)3C2, (Cr, Fe)23C6, and (Fe, Cr)yC3. These mixed carbides crystallize all in the structures of the respective pure chromium carbides with a mixed occupancy of the chromium positions by chromium and iron atoms. [Pg.19]

Despite very clear structural motifs based on four-connected atoms within the frameworks, the clathrates seldom have completely ordered crystal structures. Different kinds of crystallographic disorder appear including defects in the framework and in the cages, mixed occupation by different elements, and positional disorder of the so-formed sub-sites. The resulting defect or substitution variants tend to form superstructures by ordering of defects or different atoms on the substitution positions. Mixed occupancies often exist in a given facility or building. In a building where the area of a different occupancy is less than 10% of the area of the primary occupancy, a mixed occupancy is not considered to occur this is considered a minor accessory use condition. When a different occupancy exceeds 10% of the area of the primary occupancy, UBC considers the building a mixed occupancy and requires the summation of the ratio of actual area to allowable area for each occupancy to add up to one or less. When more than one occupancy occurs within a building, fire-resistive occupancy separations must be constructed between them as described in UBC Table 3-B and Sections 302.2, 302.3, and 302.4. Note that an H-1 occupancy may be mixed with any other occupancy. See Fig. 1. [Pg.437]
