Reviews covering general topics related

The methods and applications of the CC are the topics of the current book entitled Practical Aspects of Computational Chemistry Methods, Concepts, and Applications. Special Issue of Annals-The European Academy of Sciences . It was not our goal to collect specialized contributions aimed at a narrow group of experts. Instead, we asked all authors to provide more general reviews, focusing toward general interests of the affiliates of the academy and members of scientific society. Though, it is not possible to cover all topics related to the CC in one volume, we hope that the collected contributions adequately highlight this important scientific area. [Pg.470]

The most recent fairly comprehensive review Of the vibrational spectra of transition metal carbonyls is contained in the book by Braterman1. This provides a literature coverage up to the end of 1971 and so the subject of the present article is the literature from 1972 through to the end of 1975. Inevitably, some considerable selectivity has been necessary. For instance, a considerable number of largely preparative papers are not included in the present article. Tables A-E provide a general view of the work reported in the period. Table A covers spectral reports and papers for which topics related purely to vibrational analysis are not the main objective. Papers with the latter more in view are covered in Table C. Evidently, the division between the two is somewhat arbitrary. Other tables are devoted to papers primarily concerned with the spectra of crystalline samples — Table B — to reports of infrared and Raman band intensities — Table D and sundry experimental techniques or observations - Table E. Papers on matrix isolated species, which are covered elsewhere in this volume, are excluded. [Pg.116]

The first volume of this book covers the topics of molecular metal clusters, the second volume contains sections on metal clusters in catalysis and dynamic and physical properties of metal clusters. Volume 3 covers the chemistry of nanomaterials and of solid-state clusters. It also contains an update of the reviews published on metal clusters in the last ten years, and finally presents a view on further developments in cluster chemistry leading into the next millennium. In general, the sections within the book contain a blend of experimental results together with an analysis of theoretical aspects of the work. In some instances, closely related areas have been discussed by several authors and here a complementary diversity of views is offered. A continuous series of very excellent reviews on marine natural products by D. J. Faulkner has appeared in Natural Products Reports (2-6), covering all aspects of the literature on marine natural products, organized phylogenetically. Excellent reviews on Marine Alkaloids and Related Compounds (7) and Recent Developments in the Field of Marine Natural Products with Emphasis on Biologically Active Compounds (5) were written by W. Fenical and H. C. Krebs, respectively. Besides these reviews, numerous books dealing with general or specialized topics in marine natural products research have appeared in recent years (9-13). As is well established, polymer/polymer blending is an important method to improve the original physical properties of one or both of the components, or to obtain new polymeric materials showing widely variable properties without parallel in homopolymers. There have been numerous blend studies for various polymer pairs from both the fundamental and practical viewpoints. A few reviews [7,42] have described a general scheme for preparation and characterization of the blends and micro composites of unmodified cellulose with synthetic polymers, mainly based on works performed until 1994. The present review will cover the articles published on this topic since the mid 1990s, with extensions to related works on cellulose derivatives and other natural polysaccharides. [Pg.110]
