Natural Product Reports

Subsequently, other structural variations were reported encompassing compounds such as PS-5 (5) (5), carpetimycin A (6) (6), asparenomycin A (7) (7), and pluracidomycin A (8) (8), from a wide variety of streptomycete strains. Following these stmctures the simplest member of the series, having the completely unsubstituted nucleus, (1, X = CH2), was isolated from bacterial strains of Serratia and Ervinia (9). AH other natural products reported have substituents at both the C-6 and C-2 positions of the bicycHc ring system. Differences in the nature and stereochemistry of these substituents has provided a wide variety of stmctures, and over forty variations have been reported and comprehensively Hsted (10). [Pg.4]

It should be mentioned that during the last 13 years the Royal Chemical Society published 13 volumes of Special Periodical Reports on Alkaloids (7), which in very brief form reconsidered the publications on alkaloid chemistry and biochemistry that appeared in the preceding years. Recently, this reviewing has been continued in Natural Product Reports. [Pg.143]

The main remit of this chapter is to provide reference and plant source details of new flavone and flavonol 0-glycosides discovered since 1991, i.e., covering the years 1992 to 2003. A checklist of all (as far as possible) known structures is also included in Appendices A and B. A series of reviews, which include most of the data on new 0-glycosylflavones and flavonols presented here, have appeared in Natural Product Reports and cover the years 1992 to 1994, 1995 to 1997, and 1998 to 2000, and with a fourth (2001 to 2003) " in press. Other useful sources of data are The Phytochemical Dictionary,The Handbook of Natural Flavo-noids, and for general background reading Jeffrey Harborne s Comparative Biochemistry of the Flavonoids. [Pg.750]
